"The Hillsborough disaster touched not only clubs in England but clubs around the world as well.[27] For example, on 19 April 1989 (the Wednesday after the disaster), a European Cup semi final between AC Milan and Real Madrid was played. The referee blew his whistle 6 minutes into the game to stop play and hold a minute's silence for those who lost their lives tragically at Hillsborough. Half way through the minute's silence, the A.C. Milan fans sang Liverpool's "You'll Never Walk Alone" as a sign of respect."

Im lost for words: that is incredible.

u wot.

Read up, it's a terrible story. The police opened the gates to one section that was already way too full, let people pour in, and didn't let medical personell come in to help (they claimed the supporters were fighting). 96 fans dead, among them women and children. They weren't hooligans. And they didn't die from fighting/being crumpled, etc, they died because they couldn't breath due to the ammount of people there. They fucking died standing up.

The sick part of it all was the police's coverup story. They said the fans were fighting, stealing from and pissing on the dead, beating up the police and medical helpers doing CPR, etc.

All lies, and they have yet to say "sorry".

That's probably the douchiest and most disgusting thing I have ever seen from you.

Children died at the disaster. Innocent normal people died there. Most of them not even over 30.

RIP.

Today it's 0 years since 96 people (including children and women) died in Iraq.

Same shit.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Two completely different incidents tbh Freezer. Isn't nice to say but Iraq is a warzone. Hillsborough could and should have been avoided altogether.

So there's a difference between innocent people dying by the hands of other innocent people and innocent people dying by the hands of professional killers?

I don't know about that, I've said some pretty douchy and disgusting things in my time.

I can't say I'm well informed about the incident, but from what I've seen of football supporters, there are a lot of people in the world dying that I'm far more likely to give a shit about. The fact 100 people died 20 years ago, big fucking deal. 100's of people die all over the world, everyday. I don't see why I should care more just because it happened in the UK.

I don't want to sound like a complete fucktard, but why did you bring this thread up?From what I can see you're Belgian and have no relations with people who died(again R.I.P.)in that tragedy.
Many tragedies and deaths occur everyday,I don't know what's so special about this. It's not like someone doesn't get hurt on soccer fields every now and then.

On this day,April 15:

1912: The British luxury liner Titanic sinks after colliding with an iceberg; it is among the worst maritime disasters in history, with more than 1,500 dead.

1986: In retaliation for the terrorist bombing of a Berlin discotheque, the United States launches an air raid against Libya; nearly 40 people are killed.

On the flip side, it really brought Britain out of the...wilderness. You could say. All seater stadiums, better policing (for the most part) - Too bad it required a disaster to get people to think

I also lol'd when I heard what The Sun said about Liverpool fans after the disaster, but you have to admit, it can't be a coincidence that it was the Scousers who were involved in two big stadium disasters (Heysel and Hillsborough)

The Scouser stereotype doesn't originate from thin air

Let me be the first to say you sound like a complete fuktard. jk.

Just because he's from Belgian, doesn't mean he's not a football fan which he clearly is. And even if he's not a football fan, what the fuck is it to you if he wants to show some sympathy ? I have no relation to people that died on that day, i don't even know half the story behind it, but I still want to show sympathy.

Many people die everyday but it means so much more when its closer to home (am sure the americans can tell you a thing or two about that). I don't know what you non-football people think about the beautiful game but it ant no fuking war zone, and it certainly ant no green street. Most matches are peaceful and hence are a great day out.

It wasn't even hooliganism. Do you even know what happened on the 15th April 1989?

People rush in, people get squished, fence collapses, people fall out, people die.  Cop cover up, news bias, blahblahblah.

Sounds like fans that give too much of a shit about a sport, aka hooligans.

Do you know why people "rushed" in?

Fence did not collapse.
