Does anyone have any experience with Biostar components, specifically this Mobo:

Might be able to get a good price on one, but have no real biostar experience, how are they?

I've heard they are decent. I am a fan of ASUS myself though, I've only owned asus motherboards. Never had a problem

Personally for that kind of dough I'd stick with a better brand of mobo.  I've had a couple biostar boards (still have a socket 478 kicking around). To me they have always been more of a budget brand than performance brand.  Not saying it's definitely a bad board (look up reviews for more info) I just wouldn't personally drop that much on a biostar board.

They used to be a bit crap (they mainly do OEM mobos for Fujitsu and such), but lately, they've taken a real turn for the better. Quality-wise, they tend to actually be better than the rest of the bunch.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I would read a bunch of the reviews on newegg... if you see any trends or issues you can find another board... I just bought a Gigabyte P45(old technology i know) and i have also used Asus moboards and they have been great...  Check on Anandtech and Toms hardware for reviews also...

thanks for the replies guys, might pick this up, my only experience is with gigabyte, and I  like their stuff, but I do want to try something new. I may also be able to get a DFI for cheap, that could be fun.

That mobo is seriously overpriced for P45. Get Asus P5Q Pro instead.
