Just received my copy of PC GAMER the other day and noticed that they awarded BF2 "Game of the Year" and "Best Multiplayer Game" of 2005.  To start off:  Congrats to EA/DICE!!!

I started playing BF2 back in October, after reading and hearing how great a game it was.  Everything I read/heard said the same thing:  Great gaming experience, but still a very buggy game.  Every review I read gave it their top scores, but still all said it was marred with glitches.  Now that the year is over and the awards are going to be showered all over this game, I wanted to pose the question to this community.

Does BF2 deserve to be crowned "Game of the Year?" or do the remaining bugs and glitches which still plague the game make it fall short of this prestigious title?

What say you?

Yes, all games have bugs. it's not a big deal to me. BF2 all the way.
Plus, you can't blame a GAME for having bugs.. It's not the game's fault that the creators suck

hell yea BF2 all the way, this is the most addicting game ive played since UT2004 this game defiantely deserves its title of GAME OF THE YEAR! all i gotta say is w00t to EA/DICE, like was mentioned before every game has bugs its an imperfect world but given all the patches its defiately came a ways since release. Its good to see how EA/DICE take care of all the people who bought this game, and keep it up to date and adding bonus packs etc, how many other games are like that? normally you buy it and thats how it stays. Im glad i spent the $50. Hands down BF2 = GOTY '05

what other games of 2005 were in the running ? ,  in my opinion  bf2 is the only land mark game that has more depth and scope than the rest that were on offer in 2005

Can't remember what games PC GAMER had listed as runner-ups.  I'll check when I get home.  I'm sure that one of the them was F.E.A.R.

FEAR was awsome single player. Doom3 was great. CSS was "ok" but BF2 takes it all. in every way, everyone of those games listed had issues but over all EA has always come through with battlefield!

The BF series has owned the best multiplayer game title for years now. It's just with the popularity of BF2 have many more come to realize this.

Well, hmmm... Yeah BF2 would probably get my vote.

..And when your dealing with a game as BIG as BF2, it is inevitable to avoid having so many glithches/bugs when it is rescently released (not bin out that long), give the game another year or two and the amount will be dramatically reduced witht he upcoming patches! Good come to thoughs who wait!

Name another game that has better graphics for the same specs. Name another FPS that has fewer bugs, glitches and exploits.

Methinks the problem is your PC, not the game.

IMO, BF2 is just as good as Desert Combat (BF1942) was, with the added benefit of the commander and built-in squads/VOIP.

Just takes a lot more to bring mainstream popularity to a mod compared to a retail vanilla title.

Not played many PC games other than Doom III. that game was good cause of the atmosphere, but BF2 takes the biscuit. So much variety, VoiP 64 multiplayer mahem in an orderly manner.

I'd say they deserve it, just look at how many thousands (probably millions) of hours that players put into this game. I played this far more than any other game this year.
