What do you think of your country recognizing a siesta?  It doesn't matter if your country does or doesn't, I'd just like to hear your opinions.  (writing a "speak out" essay about them)

oh, then fuck yeah, that would be sweet, it would make my day so much better...

I wish school was a little more relaxed, our lunch is like 20 minutes and our classes are like 55 minutes, its bullshit

75 minute classes here and 55 minute lunch. I'd still like an afternoon nap though

I do it anyway. I try to make my schedule so that if I am at school for many hours I have a nice 1:45 to 2 hour break in between to eat, sleep, and study.

i agree with everything you guys said.  as said, it does increase productivity, worker happiness, and improves health.  the fact that i have solid sources that say that along with opinion is great.

ehh i dunno... I would probably just go home and play video games and shit so I'm not really for it, cus I'd have to go back to school later anyways...

see that's the thing?  i'm debating talking about how (mainly) electronics has changed things so that instead of possibly getting sleep, people are using their blackberries and whatnot.  in japan, some offices actually have nap rooms where you are forced to take a nap to keep productivity up.

the increase productivity and health.  how can you even say that?  that's the misconception i'm trying to speak out against.

I'm supposed to have like what, 8-10 hours of sleep (18 year old or so) and I usually get like 6... sometimes less... If I do get 8-10 hours a day I need to go to bed at like 9 or some shit, and when I do that over and over again I never have any fun at all and become very depressed...

My life would be much happier if I could sleep an extra two hours, by either delaying my morning or having a nap mid day

By the time I fall asleep it'd be time to go back to school/work...

Not necessarily, once your body/mind gets into the schedule (8-10 days) it will be easy to fall asleep during the day for naps...

Just like if you really wanted to and with some effort you could be falling asleep at 3pm and waking up at 12am naturally (by internal clock, its not healthy to fuck that shit up, though)

Britain is the most overworked nation in Europe and we're a bunch of complaining, pessimistic bastards.
Japan is the most overstressed and overworked nation in Asia and they're basically turning suicide into the national sport.

Mexico siestas alllll fucking day long and casually piggybacks on California and has a good time.

I'm all for siestas, fuck yeah.

the siesta is actually natural - the body's circadian rhythm calls for a nap right after lunch.  i think if you don't fight it by doing other things, you'll probably fall asleep anyway.

that's funny though.  Japan supposedly has siestas.  they even have nap rooms for workers to nap in.  hmm, this isn't too good.

"Siestas" happen in most hot countries I think, during midday it's too hot to really do anything so that's when the big break is

Don't think I'd be able to get to sleep at that time of the day, my mind is always too active by then.  Even before I go to bed at night I need to relax for about four hours before going to sleep.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.
