What? They're solid cars. Have you been in an American made car since the 70's? Awful plastic pieces of shit if ever there was one.
My first car was a Camaro. My second car was a Ford Explorer. So yeah The Camaro had a ton of niggling little problems that always crept up. The Ford was solid as a tank.

I would buy Ford before I ever bought VW just based on personal experience.
Owned 2 pontiacs, both were well built machines. First one was a '92 Bonneville and it failed inspection because of the frame, previous owner didn't take care of it at all. 2nd one was a '97 Bonneville that I made the mistake of rear ending someone with, so it got taken off the road. Both had no faults in the engine, suspension, electronics, gauges, nothing. Both ran fantastic, good on gas, etc etc etc.

Seriously, Americans think this is what the interior of a car should look like.

It blows my mind that you could think VW's are badly made.

Umm, because we get shitty plastic interiors shipped to us by VW? Maybe they build them differently for the Euro market but everything in her car was molded plastic.

Also, because of the retarded tariffs that we have on imported vehicles, all of the manufacturers skimp on the vehicle interiors in order to make the price of their vehicles more palatable to the market. Because Ford and Chevy are cheap, everyone else has to be to stay competitive.

Yeah, from what I've seen on TV it seems like it's like that in a lot of the world. I get the impression Europe is the only place people give a shit about what the interior of their car is like.

lol, it's just it reminded me of this thing I went to. Anyway somehow it got on to the subject of what your dream car would be if money was no object. Most people were saying stuff like Ferraris, Lambos, Porches, M3s, Astons, Veyron etc. The bogan chimed in with a V8 Holden Ute. Sure they're a relatively good and fun car, but hardly my idea of a "dream" car.

Unless you move to another continent, not really. I've always heard Euros drone on about quality of plastics, and I really want to see this shit if it is markedly different. Without actually having seen this, it better be something drastic or else they just look like whiny pricks.

I just want a standard 6.2L V8 Vauxhall VXR8.. it's got 420bhp? I would be happy with that.. and probably I will buy one at some point (second handbut probably not within next 2-3 years). I like it and I cannot help it. Rather than Lambo or Ferrari I would rather have VXR8 supercharged Not that I can afford to have in supercharged and insurance for modified car. But it ticks all the boxes - 5 seat saloon family car with big boot and nice big engine, rwd and lovely sound and enough power to please me.
Seriously I drive 2.2 16V NA Astra at the moment, a bit modified with probably around 160bhp (standard is 150bhp), 1200kg weight. which goes 0-60 in just below 8 seconds and top speed 135mph+. Jumping onto VXR8 would make a huge difference to me.

Ferraris and Lambos are nice cars, but not my cup of tea. I wouldn't mind a Porsche 911. I don't want M3 for the fact it's a BMW (I cannot be arsed to explain haha). Veyron? nah.. I would sell it for the money modify my dream car. Aston Martin.. again nice cars, but never my dream cars. I have fairly realistic dreams.

With motorbikes it's the same.. I would love to have.... Desmosedici? Nah.. I want Aprilia RSV4 Factory Will I have it? Not soon.. at the end of this year I'll hopefully have RSV1000 Factory.

For Ford, I agree.  Coming from a brother-in-law in the UK who used to work for a Ford parts manufacturer.  He swears by Ford quality in the UK.

Until recently, other than the F-series, Ford cars were meh in quality.  Same can be said for GM though.  Quality full-size trucks/SUV, but shitty on everything else.  I had a Camaro, and that thing didn't get past 40K before it started having major problems.

I always wanted an Aprilia Tuono but instead went with a Triumph Speed Triple.

My old job required me to take interiors of cars apart to install and fix things and without a doubt American cars are built to a very shitty standard.

PSA Group cars uses to be pretty bloody awful too but they have come a long way and are quite respectably put together now.

But nothing beats an old Alfa
