They were shit. That's why this defeat hurts soooooo bad.
Their shitness is obviously reflected in the possession stats.... waiting for a lucky break is not playing football my friend.Jenspm wrote:

I don't care. Chelsea are playing a good game and Barcelona are nowhere to be seen. We needed Henry, Marquez and Puyol. And even if we go through, now we will be missing Alves. Great, just great. Not that I see us going through in the first place.

I watched the game. I saw Barcelona controlling the ball for the vast majority of the match, I saw passing and moving from Barcelona, I saw an attempt to win a game from Barcelona. Their weak point was Alves, who was fucking diabolical and couldn't cross or shoot for shit. Chelsea sat back waiting for fortuitous breaking balls where they strung a couple of balls together then dived in the box. The most shameful part is their lack of professionalism, with Ballack actually making contact with the referee and Drogba harassing him all the way to the tunnel. Barcelona were as badly done over by the referee as Chelsea were. The fact that Barcelona only had one meaningful chance is not entirely relevant. The fact is that they had one and they put it away in a calm and collected manner, several hundred miles away from home. I watched the Real-Barca match this weekend and the team that showed up tonight were a shadow of that team, but they still deserved to win on principle alone.Jenspm wrote:

They were not good. Cech didn't even make a single save this game, and they had what; One chance? One shot on goal? Jesus, even Zimmer will admit they were bad today.

what do you mean by that?CameronPoe wrote:

That's called assault.Jenspm wrote:

Barca attempted to win, Chelsea didn't. That's the core principle.Jenspm wrote:

And no, Barca did not control the game. Chelsea had full control. Control isn't all about possesion you know.
where do you get that from?CameronPoe wrote:

Jens at the end of the day they all count
I think Chelsea (Hiddink) were tactically much better than Barca. Hiddink neutralized Barca well.CameronPoe wrote:

Not well enough it would seem....Sup wrote:

There was a sea of blue players behind the ball every time I looked at my screen. People who sit on a 1-0 lead deserve to be punished. At the end of the day, despite Barca not having made a good performance by their own standards (as witnessed last weekend), the better team man for man is now in the final.Jenspm wrote:

You think Chelsea were going for 0-0? lmfao.
I judge the two teams on their merits as teams and individuals not on tonight's performance. Barcelona are a better football team. At least it will be an entertaining final - Chelsea would only get completely annihilated by Man Utd in the final. At least a Barca with Puyol and Henry (not to mention Iniesta, Messi, Eto'o, etc.) get to face Man Utd rather than Divey McDive, Cashley Cole and co. I feel sorry for Lampard, Terry, Anelka and Essien though. Quality players (even if Anelka stole a penalty)..Sup wrote:
You judge tactics over one bad move made by the defender who flicked the ball to Barca rather than kick it away from penalty area?
