Baza (DICE employee) is active on EA's forums and is reading people's feedback for the 1.5 BF2 patch.  There are 3 polls that are very important IMO (1 of which I started ), relating to issues that have stopped me from playing BF2 regularly.  Please stop by EA's site and vote while we still have time.  You will have to register, but it is quick to do, and if you don't want to use your e-mail and receive EA spam mail, use a temporary e-mail site like www.10minutemail.com to register.  The 3 issues and polls are the following:

1. Option to turn off Radio Chatter (ie Commander and Player spotting)

2. Reduce nadespamming (Jamesey posted this in another thread, but I'll put it here too as I think it's really important)

Youll see that players will be able to go prone to sneak past clays, and grenades are not going to be reduced.

I've never found radio spamming annoying once. The more a commander spots the better even if it's 20 times in half a minute.

Grenades aren't getting changed, this has been decided.

Clays are getting a change, best to give him more direct feedback about it after beta 2 is out.

Where did you get that conclusion.  You can still read the text that is displayed to the left, which is identical to what you are hearing.  I can still see the dots on the map from people spotting.  But I don't need to hear when people all over the giant maps are asking for a medic when they die, nor do I need to hear the commander spotting 20 times a minute.  It's good for the team, yes, but it makes me sick to my stomach I've heard it so much.

If it doesn't bother you, that's cool, but to the people who it does bother, we should have the option to turn it off.

It starts bothering me when some idiots start throwing around their macro-activated "enemy boat spotted" messages and fill the whole screen with it.
Completely drowns the commander's spotting messages.
There should be a per-player limit of how many messages you can send in a certain time.

Clays are getting a change, best to give him more direct feedback about it after beta 2 is out.
True, and I am quite happy about the claymore fix. I am not about the not nerfing nadespam though, nor about reverting to 1.41 fast prone. I am guessing that untill we hit 1.5 alpha there is still sense in making a point. As it is now it doesn't make sense in any case as both argumented posts and poll results support nadespam nerfing; it is just two guys continueously screaming for DICE not to without providing any actual on topic arguments.

Offtopic: so whats the status of prone delay now? Still 0.7?

Alphas are released before betas and normally are only used internal, not released to the public.

There is the option to turn the voice over volume down, but it does not work. I could care less about the commander or anyone else spamming voice over, its just the sound that gets annoying. Dice should fix the option to turn it down so players that don't want to hear it don't have to.

Spotting is somewhat automatic and, thus, not spammed
Etc

As for claymores, I think they got them near perfect in 2142:
You can destroy them with engineer kit (which would get more people as engineers too)
You can get by them, all though as a check it does take a little bit of time and you do have to actually see them
Etc

Take a look at CSS and 2142, DICE.

Option to turn off radio chatter? Sweet! Not like I plan on turning it off myself, but it'll certainly ruin teamwork for the opposing team (as well as my own )

Engineers can already disarm claymores, but nobody seems to realise this...
Apparently they are going to make it possible to pass clays while prone.

Also, CSS is horrible
