Damn.Jarate is a thrown jar that splashes upon impact. When splashed on enemies, they take 35% more damage for a period of time. Jumping in water will wash off Jarate. Jarate is also able to short out Spies’ cloaking devices. When used on teammates, Jarate will extinguish any fire effects.
* Jarate is neither affiliated with, nor a substitute for, Karate.

Jarate actually looks extremely useful.
Sniper vs. Spy Update, Day 7
May 20, 2009 - Saxton Hale
Oi! You! On the internet! Click this link!
But wait. First, is your boss around? No? Well get him over here! He is going to love this! Your fiancée's parents too. Heck, gather everyone around your computer right now, then read them this prepared statement:
"I, [STATE YOUR NAME], endorse this. What I am about to show you embodies everything I cherish as a person. If I could sum me up in a single webpage, this would be that page. Also, if I die from excitement shortly after clicking this, please put what I am about to show you on my grave."
Did you say it? Beaut. Let's go!

Saxton Hale is the new King of the internets.
Sweet. Now less complaining about useless sniper, plus BOWS AND ARROWS AND THROWN JARS OF PISS.
I'm gonna "career" sniper and spy now. Until soldier and demo unlocks come, that is.

Next point: I'm not entirely sold on Jarate. Funny idea and it does look a bit useful in combination with the bow and smg but I wanted something abo in the game ffs.
Ah well. Funny way to present it though. Awesome that it puts out fire too. Dead. Fucking. Handy.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
You already got an Abo bow and and Abo shield.Flecco wrote:

Aboriginals were fairly unique in that they never used bows and there was never widespread use of shields as such in combat. They had a thingy called a woomera which allowed them to throw spears twice to three times as hard and quite a bit further than normal. It basically extends the length of your throwing arm a fair bit and gives you a second point of motion in it, giving you more leverage. Also saw some use as a shield if ever there was an inter-clan dispute in a region. I think up here in the north there was also a specialised tool used to dig for tubers and crap that doubled as a shield during clan 'war' as-well.
Aboriginal with woomera. He's gonna fuck you up mofocker. Spoiler (highlight to read):
Yes it is a statue but I can't go down to the local camp and ask one of them to pose for me.
Fun fact, Australia used to have a missile R&D base in the desert in northern SA (I think its around there). It was named for the Woomera.

I still want a boomerang.

"people in ny have a general idea of how to drive. one of the pedals goes forward the other one prevents you from dying"
Well I was wrong i'm not annoyed. I thought it looked stupid on the 1st of April page, but the description makes it sound pretty cool. It will make the Sniper really useful to have around. He'll finally be able to help teammates .
Good stuff.

well you don't actually throw it. that's your problem. you just caress it and look at it in a sexy fashion.Fenris_GreyClaw wrote:

Check out atlatls...they are the same type thing. They were used by Natives in Mesoamerica.haffeysucks wrote:

Used to go to Macassan Beach all the time.KEN-JENNINGS wrote:
Actually there is evidence that bows and arrows were introduced to Australia but that they abandoned the use shortly after. Archaologists have found spear points that are consistent with arrows but markedly different from the usual spear tips. Plus New Guineans used bows and arrows and it would be fairly naive to think the two cultures didn't interact at some point (at least in Northern Australia close to New Guinea).Flecco wrote:

The Youlgnu word for money is rupia (sp again?). Basically the Indonesian word for it thanks to the Macassans who had been trading with the locals of my old town for around 500 years or something. I didn't know the bow had been introduced. I'm not that up to speed on North Queensland/PNG that much as far as the indigenous culture and history goes, because I don't live with them.
That said I don't really know enough about the three clans I'm apparently a member of. Really should read up on the stuff.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.
I was pretty disappointed with the comic though. The only funny part was the text afterwards talking about the time span between frame 4 and 5. Since it's apparently made by the same people as the Meet the Team videos I was expecting something much.. well, better
Not only was the comic bland, but the characters looked nothing like the real ones either. Oh well.

I bet the flamethrower and flare gun will break when the update comes out.
Oh. I seeeeeeeeeeee. It's a parody of an old comic/advertisement. I had no idea (obviously ignorant). Now it's actually amusing and clever. Instead of just... crap.

A fourth unlockable, a plate of steamed asparagus said to make Jarate hits crit, is still unconfirmed. - Michael McWhertor

Ok so the jar replaces the SMG instead of the razorback (which I guess replaces the machete). Still not worth it.
Eh? YOU FUCKING SERIOUS?Fat_Swinub wrote:

No way. Jar + smg would make the smg worth using occasionally.
