It seems the old weapon is still given through achievements but sniper doesnt have any milestones so those can only be gained through playing.

Its gonna be a while before people find out about the new unlock system and when they do they gonna know that they been a huge pain for the entire team who picked sniper when there where about 4-5 allready.

Yeah had bad rounds today where we where doing good and then suddenly teams goes snipers and we have total 7sniper WHO CANT DEAL WITH THE CART PEOPLE, and we have to face shit loads of enemies.

I really don't care about unlocks, their fun lasts a week, tops. The only 'lasting' upgrade will be the Ambassador, perhaps the Huntsman.
