I think their intention was to lure lots of new players that won't have any of the items at all and won't want to grind achievements. It seems to be working too, partially. Free weekend + half-price deal = TF2 in the top3-5 played games on Xfire. Never been there before; only beaten by the monolithic all-conquering WoW and CoD2/CoD4 now. If the community retains only 25% of this sale-influx, that's a LOT of new players!

Which it probably will, due to the massive price-drop of this weekend.

I have three, three fucking Razorbacks - possibly the worst unlock ever. It protects you from one, just ONE attack and it doesn't even kill or injure the spy, it just makes him unable to stab for a few pathetic seconds. AND it impairs movement speed.

Only other new thing I have is the Dead Ringer which I'm still loving. It's just so much fun to taunt Snipers. Disguise as a friendly Sniper, dance around in an obvious Sniping position, laugh as the Sniper gets frustrated as he "kills" you multiple times and eventually descends into a well of despair huddled in the foetal position chanting something about "damn clones" under his breath.

Pssht, they're pretty much all pointless/useless, especially until the trade feature is implemented. Even then I don't see a lot of use O_O.

Me and Spidery were just lol'ing at the number of achievement_idle servers. WHAT'S THE POINT?

I think they are considering releasing a system of randomised stats on the unlocks. So you'd have each category of weapon, like the kritz vs. uber. Then within that you'd have things like a kritz that charges faster than normal but the kritz-charge on it doesn't last as long. Or a rocket launcher that does more damage but has to reload more often.

Best FPS game of the last 2 years, according to all popular and industry opinion. That is, if noobified and rehashed old franchises aren't your thing (CoD4/CoD:WaW).

That + decent sense of humour in the gameplay and some interesting class dynamics. Can take a little while to learn all the little tricks though. Great fun. Having wankers on your team can get very, very frustrating though.

This. I got it with the orange box weekend deal a few weeks back and it´s full of grief. Can´t play it for more than one or two hours straight. Might get better now that the free weekend is over. Dunno. It´s fun, but so full of grief.
