I need an over/under or semi-auto shotgun

Me and my dad just went trap/skeet shooting today and he liked it enough to consider buying a gun. The only problem is that he couldn't find anything on eBay or Craigslist. He only buys discounted shit and doesn't expect to pay 300$ for a gun(I don't think he understands that hobbies cost money). And of course, the only over/unders I've found are $2,000<

So can anyone find me what I'm looking for?

Needs to be:

cheap if possible, MUST be under 400$
able to shoot 3" 12 Gauge shells cause that's what the range has
ambidextrous because I have a messed up right eye and have to shoot lefty

Obviously I haven't been doing a lot of research on over/unders so perhaps there's a reason that they're SOOOO much more expensive than every other kind that you all will be lolling at me for not knowing.

Just go to a local gun shop. Probably going to run around 250 for a good pump 12 gauge.

A good over-under or semi-auto is going to be hard to find for under 400. On the other hand there are some good pumps like the remmington 870 that are going to easily be in your price range. However, if you're dead set on a over-under or semi-auto then your best bet is to look for a used one at you local gun shop. Most are going to be in good to like new condition but without as much of the price.

about the cheapest O/U shotgun i can think of is the remington spr310 series. i think they're made by baikal in turkey and imported by remington. they're in the $450 range. they're heavy and ugly but the action is solid. there's also the stoeger condor series, a bit cheaper than the remington in price and quality. if you think $2k is pricey for an O/U, take a look at Holland & Holland shotguns.

for autoloaders, you'll have to look for something used. remington, browning, mossberg, benelli, and a dozen others all make good autoloaders. the trick is finding one that isn't worn out.

you may also consider a used remington 870 wingmaster or new express with an aftermarket barrel. the mossberg 500 series is also good, as are the benellis.
