Sunday 21st June
BBC2 20:00
Top Gear
Series 13, Episode 1
Jeremy, Richard and James compete in an epic London-to-Edinburgh race.

Apparently they're going to be racing trains at some point this series. Can't wait for it to start, since the football season's closed, I don't watch anything on tv, so this will help.

I'll be on a camp though, somehow I doubt they'll have computers/I wouldn't use it anyway.

5th Gear is the more factual car show. Top Gear is more entertainment. They both cater to the same audience but go about it in an entirely different way.

I'll be updating the Top Gear thread (see my signature) with episode links for anyone that wants to keep up with it.

Pretty sure you'll be able to grab the internet at some point

Not that you'd want to use it for watching TG though.

Top Gear skids, roars and explodes its way back on to the TV with a brand new series.
It starts with an extraordinary race as Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May set out to discover what Top Gear might have been like 60 years ago. To this end, James grabs himself a gorgeous old Jaguar XK120 sports car while Richard chooses to torture himself on the brutal but rather fantastically named Vincent Black Shadow motorbike. Meanwhile, in an almost unprecedented move, Jeremy decides to take the train. But not just any old train; he's on the footplate of the Tornado, a brand new steam train built to the original blueprints used to create some of Britain's finest locomotives back in the heyday of the railways.
Jeremy has to feed the boiler with a constant supply of coal, without which the whole train will grind to a halt. The challenge behind this race is simple - the first one to get from London to Edinburgh is the winner - but what happens along the way adds up to one of Top Gear's most incredible and epic races to date.

Top Gear's mysterious test driver the Stig will take off his trademark white helmet and show his face to viewers for the first time.

Presenter Jeremy Clarkson said tonight's pre-recorded programme will include a scene where the Stig barges into the studio and removes his helmet.

Clarkson said the Stig showed his face to the camera for the first time "in an atmosphere that you could cut with a knife".

In his column in the Sun newspaper he said the show's director, who has worked in television for 25 years, said he had never seen anything like it.

He added that "hardened, emotionless camera crews said the hair on the back of their neck prickled".

Clarkson added: "As a television moment it's up there with Neil Armstrong walking on the...corpse of JR Ewing."

He said Stig's identity would be a "staggering surprise" to viewers.

A BBC spokesman said: "As Jeremy said, in tonight's Top Gear Stig will remove his helmet for the first time."

The Stig test drives cars around the Top Gear test track in Dunsfold Park, Surrey, and trains each week's guest for their lap for the Star in a Reasonably-Priced Car feature.

Former Formula One driver Perry McCarthy was Top Gear's original Stig, who dressed all in black during the first two series. He was replaced with a new Stig, dressed in white, after he revealed his identity.
