To be honest man, I can't say I know enough about them to tell you what to get and what to avoid. Have a look here though, that should give you decent reviewed cameras in your budget.
Read some tests and info and find a camera that you believe will meet the needs and budget you have ... both Sony, JVC and Canon make decent compact ones ...
