How do I do this? I used powerdvd earlier but it's quite shit. If I open one in MPC it resizes the window to the right resolution, finds the right length, says it's playing but then stays on 0:00 displaying a black screen.

You're the only person I've heard claim that VLC is superior
Not the only one that's been laughed at for using it, though.

Actually, I don't use VLC that often unless I have a fidgety file that won't play in Winamp. But, I sure as hell don't use MPC...ew...

What filters does MPC say it's using to try and play the files (right click on screen and look under filters)?

MPC with the right codecs always works. I've been using it for years now and its only failed this once because I dont have the right codecs for blu-ray. It's fast, functional, practical, lightweight, and very customizable.

I'm amazed no one mentioned picture difference between these two players. Not sure maybe my version of VLC was crappy but I once DLoaded VLC to see what all the fuss was about and compared it to BSplayer and MPC and the picture in VLC was awful.

That's true. The codecs included in VLC produce an absolutely shit picture.
MPC uses directshow. Many GPUs can post-process the video for better quality

It shouldn't have anything to do with Blu-Ray codecs. m2ts is essentially a DVD file. If you can play a DVD, you should be able to play an m2ts file.

well then how do I play this one?

Strangely, I can do this:

If I set it to VMR 9, I get half the picture with a bad aspect ratio, out of sync audio, and played at the wrong speed.

But what filters are you using?

Try opening the file in graphedit, that's typically the best way of troubleshooting these issues.

That won't work.

I was just going to recommend this

It could of course also just be a fucked up release ...
