The worms naturally occur in sewage and pond sediment and are actually sold both live and dried as fish food in pet stores
too bad it's real and explained. would have been a good beginning to a viral movie campaign.
I want to pet one!
Goddamn you I just spent 5 minutes looking for a picture of one of them, then realised you already said it.Metal-Eater-GR wrote:

Looks awesome.
noice

Yeah it's a giant ball of icky worms. And it contracts like that because they all do it in sync. Probably one of the worst things on this planet though, surely
I was about to google for a pic too, but i had no idea what were they called. "mouth thingies that hang from ceilings in HL2" didnt bring up many results, frankly.SirSchloppy wrote:

Heh, that's fish food.
That would be called a barnacle.Metal-Eater-GR wrote:

This
I was just playing Half-Life Opposing Force and just got it as a weapon.
I wish they brought that back in HL2....or hopefully another Shephard game.
The Black Mesa scientists were able to "tame" this Xen creature that normally adheres to ceilings. Its ability to latch onto distant organic targets (including enemies) using its long tongue makes it useful as a grappling hook allowing the player to scale heights and cross otherwise impassable gaps. Primary fire shoots out the tongue and pulls the player towards whatever it sticks to, alt-fire stops it from retracting its tongue, allowing the player to swing around.

Its a parasite species, once it's evolved enough to move, it will jump on its victim and dig itself in body and steal the corpse from the host, but keeping him alive so he can feel the pain. The then evolved lifeforms will then attempt to kill the most to facilitate the spores to get them, finally the host becomes a giant sac of things which explodes near food violently, releasing hundreds of thingies running for their prey.aerodynamic wrote:
