Ok so my recent gpu died (ram on the card fried due to summer temps, it was artifacting for a while already) So I returned the pc to the computer repair guy, so now there's the dilemma : as I'm a student I don't really have a  lot of money at hand so my parents will pay for the card up to a certain price range.
So now can you guys give me some suggestions ?
Key points would be price/quality ratio and above all reliability and durability
Thanks in advance people ^^

Asus GTX 275 if you can order from OC.UK

HD 4890 is bit slower and louder than GTX 275, but can be had for couple € less. GTX 275 is bit faster ande quieter while costing bit more.

edit: oh and what specs you got now, cpu, psu etc?

Ok so with this card and 2gb of ram(kingston) and a 3.2ghz amd single core processor what would be the highest/newest "top range" game I would be able to play ?
Sorry I don't really know the specific brands of mobo or how much the psu is (power supply? )

there is absolutely no point in getting CF with lower end cards when you can get same performance with one. After you have had enough multi-GPU setups you will understand why.

But that current rig you got there is going to be epic bottlenect for any decent gfx card. Are you going to upgrade it any time soon?

^ what he said.

Why don't you invest in a dual core processor first? They run from 35 -- 72 euro's (about $50 to $100 American dollars) if you know where to look, and then you can feel the awesome fury of a 4770 or a 4870 .

Or you could try to overclock the card you have

Yeah I was kind of planning on upgrading my computer after buying a new gfx card
But I'm only working this month so the money will be in next month at the soonest, so I thought why not get a good gfx card, for the not so good current setup and when the money comes in make another thread
And since I had a few bad Ram/slots/sticks and gfx cards burn out and hard drives crash I really want a reliable system so I don't have to put up with the "o Shit it broke again" and then wait a week
So for now it's just a decent-good gfx card which I can still use for perhaps a year
Thans for all the suggestions so far

If you are going to use the card for a year only, grab one of those HD 4770s, they go for 90€ cheapest atm. Oh and you can get nice C2D upgrade for 350€, just did some calculations at alternate.de

You also have to make sure that your PSU meets the minimum wattage requirements and has the correct amount and type of plug.  I'd find everything out about your PSU first if I were you.

(And with a single core processor, almost any card you get is going to be bottlnecked...)
