I had a similar conversation to this when I used to play Forza 2, on the Forza forums, I was up with some of the best players on that game and had only played 1 girl who was actually sort of competitive, I said on the forums that boys are better than girls simply because there are about 10 thousand times more boys playing games than girls, so there's much less probability that a girl playing is going to be really good compared to a boy.
I would say that if there were exactly the same amount of girls playing games as boys, then there would be a lot more competitive girls, but boys just seem in general to take games more seriously, so they practice more and be better gamers.

My girlfriend plays FPS games, she's got the reflexes of a cat on crack, shame she likes to scream when being shot at and she leans to the side when going round corners. I guess she could be good with practise.

And in my oldest clan, we had 2 who were not that good though.
