I know this has been talked about countless times, but I can't find the posts.

I was playing with someone called #1905# skane_svk today and he wrote this message in game that was big text and it was red and orange, I normally only see hackers do that, like when they advertise their hacking company or whatever so I asked him if he hacked and he just said "noob" (like most hackers say), so I asked him how to do it and he said he's not talking lol anyone know if it's possible?

I can't think of anything, as you can't copy and paste in-game, you can't edit any files to write a message for you (as far as I know) I have no idea.

I was just a bit suspicious about him because of that message he wrote as it's ALWAYS only hackers that I see do that, and the fact he was playing a bit too good, like getting on my tail beyond draw distance every time without fail, even though I was flying 850M most of the game just bombing stuff, but I've seen him loads of times on servers.

Can't find anything on google about it, or is it just hacks?

It's editing localization files. AFAIK you can only change how your deadchat looks like.

I know about localization files, but they are client-side, I have big orange text come up on my screen when I get a kill.

But I mean actually in-game, like when you press "J" to chat, he wrote it there

But people can't see your localization files, like I said it's personal, just a text file on YOUR computer.

If no one knows then I take it it's hacks then, if it's not then I'd like to know as I've never seen a non-hacker be able to do it, and if it was possible then surely everyone would do it, just like everyone puts special characters in their clan tag by editing the file- the only reason they do it is because they can

All you have to do is edit your "dead" prefix, you know, the one that normally appears in game as *DEAD*. You can make it big and orange with the same code you would normally use.

And yes, people can see what you change it to. It's great if you like getting banned from servers for hacking.

Ok thanks, I'm surprised hardly anyone at all knows about it, I won't be doing it then lol jst wondered how

so the localization file- *§1DEAD§0* I just change it to a message with the big orange text? And what happens? Does the message only come up when I'm dead and chat?

I think there is a way of doing it normally, and not having to set it in your dead prefix.
Either that or the guy i'm thinking of has a script to edit it, so he can write different messages in his dead prefix ingame.

You want to make your public chat come out big and orange for everyone on the server to see...

Im not sure you can do it with out a hack.... But it could be as simple as a bit of code.

Yes Sammy that's exactly what I mean, you know you get hacker that post them massive messages like "Artificial Aiming.com" and stuff like that on the chat screen

A bit of code sounds dodgy to me lol maybe he wasn't hacking, but like I said I've only ever seen hackers do that text, no legit players, and I don't understand why someone would go out of their way to do that if it makes them look like hackers, if they are genuine players

The only reason I'm asking if you can do it genuinely is because that player I mentioned is always on servers, and probably is a genuine player as there's nothing on pbbans on him or anything

Not to mention the text was RED and orange, I thought orange was the only possible colour available for custom text and stuff

You know if you have the code for big letters/words and you have so your dead msg is THIS BIG, the following words will be big...........so it would be like example..

Ok I get it, so if you want the message, just make the DEAD message big (with the funny S3 thing), and follow it with a message of your choice, so when you are dead, all you have to do is type a blank space and your message will appear? lol

Tried it it works, I just deleted the word "DEAD" and just put "§3" which has the 2 boxes surrounding it then when I type it all comes out big

Don't work online though, only in single player for me

I don't know or care how to make it big but my locals say (Dead) instead of *DEAD* so it is definitely possible to change that one. I take it if you leave the orange big text code thingy as last, the whole of your text comes out big and orange

Back in the 1.0 days, the server I used to whore had a feature where all players and admins could chat in orange by entering a code in the front... don't remember what that code was, it may vary from a simple "@" to the big code we enter in the loco files to make orange text.

In our server, when I look at the chat log, you can see the messages at the top and we have the rules in the orange writing you talk about and it has this code:

§3§C§0

At the start and end of every message we want... try copying that into your chat when you talk... Just an idea.

You can find the right codes by using the Google machine I'm sure. I remember on the demo a lot of people used to put |ccc| in their name in order to make the characters that followed orange.

I told you that you noob. If you read the forums as I wrote, so you would know that this is only the editing of language (but I wrote it) and not based on a topic where You called Me cheater / hacker. In life I was not done nothing and see no reason why I should. BF games for fun and not because I have to destroy the second game and had the feeling that I am immortal !!!

Skane I sorted it ages ago lol I'd just only ever seen hackers use that text before you when they write their hacking site with it so I was a bit suspicious lol I've seen quite a few people use it recently now though
