Looking for some new earbuds

After my set of Bose broke for the 5 billionth time (And I realized thanks to this forum that Bose isn't that great of quality) I'm looking for a new set of earbuds. Right now I'm using the creatives that came with my laptops audio card, but they're bulky (they have a mic on them) and the cord length for each ear are different (so the mic will sit in position) and it bugs the crap out of me.

I like the softer kind that form to your ear. Willing to spend up to around 150, as I use them daily for work, listen to them when walking to campus and just plain all the time. I'm not super super fussed about the quality (though for the price I'm willing to pay it should be nice), but I don't want them to short out after 6 months. They will be in heavy use.

PS. I did searh but nothing was either very recent or applicable.

Sennheiser CX-95s. Fantastic, crisp sound and not too expensive.
I have them, they are really quite awesome. Comfort is a bit of a problem sometimes, depending on how your ears curve and how big they are, but they are a real amazing paid of earphones. I dropped them in Mango juice and they still work perfectly. Only complaint is the cable is a bit short, but it comes with an extension.

You wont get Shure E3s for less than $200, so no point in that.

I was going to start a post on this as my Headset has given up! I use them a lot for TS and Ventrillo, playing BF2 as my amp is possibily over-powered to play without cans (Even though I kind of like the rumbling of a tank being a physical thing!)
I've looked at the Fatal1ty range but am unsure? Any suggestions to my post and the OP greatly appreiciated
Personally I have about £50 to spend, would like to spend less than more obviously!

I would advice to get fullsized cans for gaming as for longer periods fatigue appears and you might get annoyed by the feeling of IEMs in your ears after couple of hours. And IEMs are just not for gaming

Shure are only good if you go real high end. The lower end options aren't as good as their competitors equivalents - Sennheiser, Denon, Jays, Klipsch, Etymotic or UE.

.Sup has recommended two pretty awesome earphones right there. The IE6 and 7 are meant to be very good, I haven't tried them myself, but reading reviews and stuff, they look pretty good.

i have the E2Cs (now the SCL2s) which are MSRP $100 (i got them for $60) and i love them, but i'm not an audiophile of any sort so don't kill me

Yeah, problem is they are HIGH END, which means they cost a fucking bomb. Can't disagree with that, but his budget was $150, and the low end Shures get raped by other earbuds.

Yeah, but that's like saying a core-i7-DDR3-quad-SLI machine is 'high end', only to be trumped by a machine with a diamond-encrusted case, 16Gb of RAM and a 50" monitor driven by tons of graphics cards chained together. There's 'high end', maximum-quality technology, and then there's the excessively luxurious and boutique market.

Ordered. Will do. I didn't think my bose in-ear headphones were too bad of quality so I'm far from an "audiophile"... But from the reviews i've read they should be better quality, better fitting, and last a lot longer, which is the goal.

A little late, but I purchased some of these a few months back. They sound good, no issues. My only complaint is that the wire for the right ear is longer than the left. Its designed for the wire to go around the back of your neck. No big deal though.

Okay, got the custom 2s just 10 minutes ago.

First thoughts: The sound on my rush CD didn't sound very full. Played with earbuds and the EQ...

They're awesome Better sound than my bose, with a 2 year warranty and a mesh cord so it won't short out after 6 months. They cost me less too, and fit better on my ears. Will be better for running/working out due to shape.

The bad: Now I'll have to get rid of my low quality songs because I can really tell the difference. I'll also have to start ripping at higher quality too - anyone know offhand how to do this in iTunes?

i've been using windows media player 9, with a couple of registry hacks to allow high quality mp3 ripping.
i've got the 16 gb nano, i wouldn't think the hardware (the actual chip that encodes/decodes mp3) would be too different from an iphone.

just me maybe, i think 192 is the sweet spot for size/quality + my particular set up. 128 is 'allegedly' CD quality, but even i can tell 192 is better.
i have about 1/3 of my 110gb music collection ripped @ 160, seems decent, i need to turn up the volume a hair when i hit one of those tracks tho.
