Possibly Zurich (grew from bronze age settlements there).

I don't think much of the accuracy of this list.....

What about all the places in Egypt like Crocodopolopodis (or whatever they called it), what about the rest of the ME, I thought Kirkuk was supposed to be very, very old.
Like I said don't expect it to be spot on. It seems they have excluded places that have been renamed or were once part of other territories/provinces.

Plovdiv???

Been to Jerusalem, Lisbon, outskirts of Jericho and Athens. Seriously want to go to Damascus and Varanasi. Israeli stamp means no Damascus until 2013 at earliest. Would have thought Xi'an (China), Cairo, Istanbul and Baghdad would have been in there.

Man that was some interesting reading, I liked that!

I wonder what the oldest city in the world is, even if it didn't survive the years but I wonder what the world's first town/city was.
I think Ur was the oldest that they have found that classified as a city, but not sure anymore.  I think they found a sister city in Iraq or somewhere around there.  The oldest city likely is in the Middle East somewhere as that's where modern intensive food prodoction and cultivation began.  That's not to say there wasn't some other nutrient/resource-rich area that couldn't support a large population, but just an educated guess would have to be somewhere in the ME.
