FFS EU. Stop harassing Microsoft over every fking thing. And same time allow others to do what they want.... Apple has 100% monopoly in anything even  remotely related to MACs.... why Microsoft is the only one getting blamed for everything these days?

I give the EU award: "Byrocratic bullshitter of the decade"

Here's another one for Microsoft to add to its seemingly never-ending list of EU antitrust probes: Word and Excel.

Bloomberg this week reports that Microsoft is in talks with European Union antitrust officials regarding Word and Excel in addition to the high profile case surrounding the Redmond company's Internet Explorer web browser. Bloomberg cites four sources, who all declined to be identified because the talks are confidential, as saying Microsoft is in preliminary talks to settle two additional probes before EU Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes leaves office. The sources went on to say that any agreement would have to resolve a case over IE as well as a separate investigation into word processing and spreadsheet software.

Microsoft has already racked over $2 billion in antitrust fines from the European Union and, while we've been hearing all about the IE probe for months now, details on the probe into the Office software are a little hazy. Bloomberg sources say that the EU is investigating complaints that Microsoft doesn’t provide formatting and other information to allow rival products to work with Microsoft Office software
but neither Microsoft nor the EU would comment on the report.

MS can go jump in the lake with their stupid OS's. XP was the best but vista is the crappiest OS . all they care is about money and sadly PC gamers buy their crappy software.. Mac OS X for the win.. and it runs perfectly after a year

You're right, no other OS would ever withstand running for an ENTIRE year.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Microsoft are a joke. The shit they get away with when it comes to anti-competitive business practices is the reason the EU gives them such large fines all the time.

Oh and if you're interested, have a look at the "open source" software Microsoft tried to release. It was rejected by the EU because, shock horror, it wasn't open source. lol

They need to just not sell their shit to Europe at all. See if they like that.

How is Office breaking antitrust laws? It doesn't even come bundled with any version of Windows (only in trial version, but you could then make the argument that antivirus companies are violating antitrust laws). Hell, you can get Star Office or Open Office and have pretty much all the same stuff that Microsoft Office 2003 was capable of - FOR FREE.

I agree with you Panzer - Apple needs to get their shit hung out to dry, as well. Granted, the fines aren't that large for MS, but nonetheless ...
