I need a motherboard suggested to me(Asus preferred but not required), I need a Core 2 Quad suggested to me, I need RAM suggested to me.  I won't be overclocking this so it doesn't need to be FUCKING 1337 OVERCL0CK EDITION parts, not that a Core 2 would need them anyway from what I hear but I'm just saying

I need to know what speed of RAM goes 1:1 with what Core 2 FSB(1066MHz and 1333MHz) if that is possible to actually do.

You REALLY want a board with decent PWM for quad. Even for stock use. I have seen cheapo boards go BANGBANG under extensive load from quads, and the better boards isn't that much more expensive....

Will I have to worry about Windows 7 working with that one?  I just read a review that it was having trouble with RC1.

I do plan to get 7

this,
I just picked up a p5q pro and  4GB OCZ reaper 1066, only way I could be happier with it is if I got a 9550 as well, and a 4890/gtx 275 I guess.

That's amazing, I'll have to get them tomorrow or something.

I NEVER thought I could get a great deal in my own state since Fry's is staying on the fucking West Coast only.  Every time I've bought a piece of computer hardware locally I got ripped WAAAAAY off.  ffs, Chesapeake Computers charged me 20$ for an IDE cable two or three years ago when I had no idea what the price of an IDE cable was supposed to be.

Btw, what speed of RAM will have a 1:1 FSB:DRAM ratio with the Q9550?

I think you will be fine with 800mhz or 1066mhz...
I am not familiar with ram timing settings... panzer will probably know
I have 800mhz corsair and my q9400 overclocked to 3.2 with the little gigabyte program that comes with the board...
and it's very stable and runs great...

Got any suggestions for a PSU?

The pics say it uses an 8-pin CPU connector.

Enermax Modu82+ / Pro82+ depending if you want modular cables or not.

I wasn't looking to spend more than 70$ on a PSU if it's not absolutely necessary.  Anything a little cheaper?

you can't afford a Pro82+ 425w?

What kinda graphics card are you going to be running?

Evidently not:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6817194034

Edit: Fuck it, I can't find the exact model again but you get my point

Definitely not spending more than 100$ on a PSU, the rebate's probably worthless anyway but I will scan the reviews

My GPU will be my 8600GT 512MB(doesn't require 6-pin) from this computer until my next paycheck in two or three weeks.  Then I'm not sure what I'll get next, I suppose I could take suggestions on that too.

I would prefer to have a PSU with Active PFC and Bronze Efficiency if that is possible.  Also preferably not modular.  I'll spend 80 if I really have to I guess.

Truth be told, I might not be able to get a PSU either until my next paycheck, which will suck because I will have everything else except a PSU.

Why on Earth would you not want a modular PSU?  I love installing only the cables I need and not have to worry about finding a way to hide away the ones I'm not using.  Sorting by modular is the first thing I do when I start looking for a PSU.

newegg doesn't seem to have HX450W, but they do have the solid cable VX450W.

Cable organization isn't a big deal to me as long as nothing's hitting anything(unfortunately the Core 2 fan design doesn't make that any easier), the case won't have a window anyway.  I'm not really looking for luxury here, I'm just trying to rid myself of this ancient OEM Pentium 4 shit once and for all.

That one looks great.  I'm not sure I'll be to afford it till my next check unfortunately though.  But that looks like the one I'll get.  Maybe that Micro Center place has it affordably.

There is one mroe cheaper alternative, Corsair CX400W, but thats only 10 bucks cheaper at micro than the VX450W at newegg. I don't understand why you want the cheapest and shittiest PSU and yet get a quad core CPU. You DON'T want shit PSU.

I very much recommend not going with anything cheaper than CX400W.
