How good non-gaming PC can you really get with budget <200€?

Well thats a question I am soon able to answer.

Extreme budget <200€ build ! Secod hand is the way to go in build of this budget.

You'd think I settle with some cheap ass Pentium E2xxx or Celeron E1xxx, but no. Much better in fact.

I managed to get these already. (prices include shippings, if that was needed. Ram for example had to be shipped).

E6400 + boxed cooler 60€
Biostar Tforce P965 Deluxe 25€
4x1GB PQI DDR2 800mhz CL5 40€
Antec NEO HE 430W 25€
200GB Seagate SATA HDD 15€
DVD-Drive *free*

= 165€ *CASE AND GFX EXCLUDED ATM* plenty left for the missing parts in non-gaming pc!

case and gfx yet to be bought. that pci card in the picture is purely for testing purposes, and will be replaced with better in final build.

Monitor and keyboard/mouse is excluded (if these were needed, you could get CRT monitor for free and keyboard/mouse for couple € tbh).

I see how this build could be customised for decent gaming machine by getting 8800gt for 45€ or so. Another upgrade would be F7P cooler + even more OC for the gaming pc.

Does that mobo support RAID? It would scream with RAID 0. Of course you would need 2 identical hard drives... add an extra $20 on there...

It is a replacement desktop for my brother. I think pentium 3 didn't really cut it anymore even for simple things like websurfing + the mobo is dying.

Now seeing this build being almost ready my other brother is tempted to have one of these too (coming from P4 based celeron PC). That might be even a bit too challenging build to get for under 200€, so probably up the budget a bit because he wants micro-atx setup (and oh boy those cases cost a lot!)

Sadly the board was origilally designed for higher-end PC and doesn't have integrated graphics. But I have been looking for some x1300 or gf 6200 for PCI-E bus. Cost of those should be around 5-10€ + shipping.

It indeed might support RAID. I'll check that one out, but I am very skeptical of finding identical drive.

Oh and this build will be running Vista x64, thats why 4GB ram. If anyone complains about the hw demands of Vista after this, they better start looking for another hobby...
