You will get RAPED by customs in most countries. They have to declare the value of the shipment, and not only will you be required to pay toll and VAT, but many shipping companies charge a not-insignificant amount for customs processing.

Consumer protection organisations in most countries will tell you to stay away from these things.

If that's the case, buying in increments of less than that would =win.

Lol yeah. I guess that could work Unless customs found out

Another thing I've heard of (on a photography forum, when people try to get cheaper overseas gear) is to have it sent as a "gift" - eg. get someone you know over there to buy and send it. I thiiiiiink that they aren't subject to import taxes.

When I buy shit off eBay from chinese companies, they pretty much always check it as a Gift(and undervalue the item)

I'm not sure what the penalties for falsified customs papers are though.

I have heard ppl getting busted for doing that "gift" trick. A 999 dollar CPU costed in the end over 1300€ after vat, customs and fine. (he could have got it cheaper from here lol).
