A serious PMP question

OK, my girlfriend spilled Sprite on my iPod 5G and it no longer holds a charge. I left it charging for 24 hours on the cable plugged into the wall and the meter still reads at a tiny little red sliver. Tried running it on a movie to see how long it would last and it ran for about 3 minutes.

What this means: She is buying me a new PMP. I know there are other PMPs with video that can do lots of nice things. Here is my budget and requirements: $250 USD, video capability and at least 30GB of storage space and also must be roughly the size of a 5G Video/iPod Classic. I don't want anything hefty or whatever.

I know Freezer and a few others use PMPs other than iPods and can get lots of nice stuff done with them, so I would like your help. I would personally prefer to stick with an iPod since my entire library is already organized in iTunes, but if you can sell me on another PMP that is better, please do.

Help me out here, guys. Please!

Archos 5 is pretty nice. I think it may be a bit over $250 and is a tad larger than the iPod, but it's got a harddriver so you got at least 80Gb of space.

If its just the battery which is gone, then you (or ASP) could replace the battery?..

Would the ipod be under warranty?

Ipods have shite warrenty and getting apple to pay for anything reportedly is like getting macbeth to behave in a straight manner. I like the look of that samsung though.

The iPod is almost 3 years old. It was going strong and never had any problems until now and this isn't really a reliability issue.

I am selling the thing, btw. It still works perfectly fine, the only thing is that the battery doesn't work. Still will work when being fed power, though. If I didn't need it in Vienna, I would keep it and use it in my car. Unfortunately, I do need the battery to work and I need the portability.

Cowon players have the best sound quality. The S9 has a nice AMOL screen. Seriously nothing can compare to this player on the market. Get it.

Archos and ipod have bad sound quality compared to this.

That isn't true. Both Samsung and Cowon have fantastic sound quality, so does Sony.

I'll read that S9 review. But it does come in 32GB flavor according to Amazon ... the price isn't bad, either.

Cowon D2 16+16 with D2+ firmware is what I use, and I couldn't be much happier. The UI is a bit crap, but Rockbox is coming out in a reasonable time. The rest is made out of awesome and sex.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. I have a cowon d2+ it comes with a memory card expansion slot and is also cheaper, I would recommend it if you want to go cheaper.

I ment cowon make some of the best players with sound quality. Sony probably does have better sound quality. But overall I would choose the S9, it has a really long battery life, the AMOL screen is really nice, excellent sound quality and doesn't feel cheap.

The UI is absolutely terrible. Making it feel cheap when you're using it.
