You'd be doing something egregious to get a reckless driving ticket on a rainy day.

And yes, post ticket or it didn't happen.

Reckless driving means your an asshole.
Careless driving means your a doofuss.
There is a big difference.

NoOb cop tbh.
It also says the conditions were dry and you were in a school area...
I stood in line for four hours. They better give me a Wal-Mart gift card, or something. - Rodney Booker, Job Fair attendee.
They were wet IMO, and yes I was about half a block away from a school.DBBrinson1 wrote:

Looks to me the ticket wasnt filled out right by the cop, un-ticked court appearance, wrong weather boxs ticked. If its real then any lawyer could get the charges dropped. Also as ATG pointed out you might have a case for careless driving instead of reckless.
How so the ticket says "careless"Chorcai wrote:

What am I missing here? The ticket was issued for careless driving. AHHHHHH. Mario Andretti here in his state of 'fuck my life' mis-titled the thread or doesn't understand there is a difference between the two.ATG wrote:

The cop told me it was a court appearance for reckless driving, I assumed the terms were interchangeable since on the ticket there is no reckless driving.DBBrinson1 wrote:

39:4-96 is the reckless, but reckless isn't written the description, careless is. Sounds to me like he went easy on you. Reckless is intentional, careless is more of a whoopsie.Macbeth wrote:

You should be arrested for driving a ricer jk. You will probably get points on your license if he charged you with reckless driving, but if your state offers this you can do the prayer for judgment class, and get the points taken away.Macbeth wrote:
Leaving work today it had just rained and the road was slippery so as I was turning I lost control and slide into another car. We are both alright and we called the police but the police gave me a reckless driving ticket were I have to appear in court. All I have is a pic of my cars fucked up front that'll post when I get home. My parents picked me up from work after I left my car parked at the job so I am 14 again in the backseat of my parents car being driven home, shit sucks.
statute 39:4-96 is for reckless driving, which is more serious
39:4-97 is for careless driving.
there is a rather large difference in impact on record/fine, etc.
The cop was either ill informed or sadistic.
39:4-96 Reckless driving- First offense: Fine or imprisonment not exceeding 60 days, or both $50-$200 Second or subsequent offense: Fine or imprisonment not exceeding 3 months, or both $100-$500 5 MVC/DMV points and 5 additional car insurance points. Also, Judge/Magistrate can suspend driver's license.
39:4-97 Careless driving- Fine or imprisonment not exceeding 15 days, or both $50-$200 2 MVC/DMV points and 2 additional car insurance points.

Wow ... and I thought my 78 year old Gran was a bad driver.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.
OHHHHH, in that case...Macbeth wrote:
