What I am looking for:
  • Budget around the £700 mark
  • Preferably quite light. I want to be able to move around with it easily.
  • A nice screen, I will probably use it for watching films, and HD if possible.
  • Fast enough to run Office programs + a web browser with lots of tabs open.
  • Maybe some light gaming.
  • A long battery life- not one that you have to have plugged in pretty much all the time
  • Maybe the £ sign didn't make it clear I'm from the UK.

Thanks!

Finding a Full HD laptop is pretty impossible in that price range and with "light" as a requirement since lower than 19" does not really cut it for such a huge res. 720p should be possible with most laptops though. Samsung R522 or R720 are worth a look for example.

Yeah I wasn't sure thats why I said if possible, I don't really know much about laptops. 720p should be fine though.

nothing wrong with a 13" laptop.

Especially as you want it to be light....

EXAMPLE:

Description:
FZ693PA
Processor Intel Core Duo T2330 1.6Ghz
Screen 15.4" WXGA Widescreen
Memory 1GB
Hard Drive 160GB
CD Drive DVD+-RW
Video Card Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100
Wireless Integrated 802.11bg Wireless

Australian Price = $1099.00

Thats about 547.28 Pounds.

Imo, go down to your local PC shop and try them out...

Personally, i love my macbook pro 13"

It does the job

That vid card will not be enough for anything more intensive than CS 1.6 though.

Yeah I went and had a look at PC World and Curry's. There were some I liked the look of. Thought I might look online as well though to see if there were any better deals.

And from what I've been looking at you can get a lot better for £550

Hmm the R522 and the R720 are the same price. The R720 has a bigger screen with only a small weight gain. 3 hours battery life should be fine too.

Yeah that's the one I meant. I think it is better too. Also, I get 10% off at argos.
