However, we agreed a second watch would be unnecessary.
what's there to argue about the end?

you need to watch it again.Brasso wrote:

Spoiler (highlight to read):
In the end scene Cobb spins the totem one last time to distinguish between dream/reality (remember that the totem is supposed to stop if he's in the real world & keep spinning if he's still in a dream state). The screen fades to black before we can determine what happens & therefore keeps the viewer guessing and allowing for open interpretation.
I totally called the ending before it even happened btw

Really? RealD doesn't bother me at all. Haven't tried imax 3d, though, but I heard they made that a little more 'jumpy.'Obiwan wrote:

This movie is definitely something else. I really need to go see it again to get a better grasp on things. I keep bouncing back and forth. Read some people's thoughts on it and think "Yeah, they're right, this really isn't all that," then read some other analyses and think "Whoa, if that's true, then this film is very special." Can't make up my mind, must go see again!
Spoiler (highlight to read):
It was a dream at the end. He dreamed about seeing his kids and forgot about his totum remember the pay check part ?

They left it open, really. It might have been about to fall over, who knows?Obiwan wrote:

That was the best film I've ever seen.
Went to see it at 8:30 last night, missed the screening because someone got lost. Ended up seeing it at 10:40, got to bed by half 2! So worth it

Everyone was going to watch it but I said I can't be arsed, I dunno it was just a film about dreams or some shit right, didn't interest me

I think he is dreaming though because of some of the little bits of knowledge you pick up in the film. Or maybe when his totem wobbles right at the end when he spins it, is his mind changing to believe that the dream state he is in is his reality.
I hadn't even seen a trailer when I went in to the cinema. I'm glad I saw it, it was a good film. Just wait till it comes out on DVDMekstizzle wrote:

@Microwave True, I suppose. Though I still think it's left open for interpretation on purpose.
Indeed they left it completely open on purpose.
Looks good..same thoughts about the matrix.
yeah, it was an open ending, nothing to argueliquidat0r wrote:

I walked out of the theater debating with my friends over whether it was about to fall over or not, and if Cobb was in reality or a dream. In the end, it doesn't matter. The point isn't whether or not he's in reality or a dream at that point, but that he finally overcame his wife's death.
I also really enjoy the strong allegory to the film-making process. (Director, producer, actor, executive/investor, creating a dream for the audience and planting ideas in them, etc.)

If it was as Obiwan says, pass. That kind of cliche pisses me off.liquidat0r wrote:

Don't pass, go see it. This isn't a cliche because at the end it doesn't matter whether it's spinning or not. That's not the point.
I'll pre-order the blu-ray.
