Factories, hands down. But SecTraders do give some nice boost, especially when leveled up, so start them early. But factories (and later on complexes) always come first.
is this game like eve cept its single player?

Holy shit just got my first m7. One of my plot missions bugged and became too hard to complete (they were spawning 2 xenon Q's when I was in a Nova) so I had to grind up 40 milion for a Cerberus. Not a great M7 but I walked in with Flak batteries and CIGs into the middle of a giant Xenon swarm and watched the enemy fighters melt Gunned down the Q's easy easy.
At least this game knows how to reward you properly for all the grinding.

Got a ship as a reward. No guns on it. pulled guns and equipment off old ship. Sold old ship. Could only fit one type of laser on it. Old kind weren't that. Try to buy some. Notoriety too low. Fuck. You.
Shoulda maybe checked then, silly.Adams_BJ wrote:

Yeah that's bizarre - why the hell do they give you a much shittier, less decked out ship as a "reward"?
But I checked first
But I checked first

I only use the mouse when I'm SETA'ing, cause it doesn't cancel it. urrother time it's joy.
Are the developers trolling with the terran sectors? They're absolutely huge. You can't jump to or between them. Aldrin is the biggest waste of time I have ever seen, you have to fly around some 5 billion km wide asteroid to get to one weapon factory.
You're gonna love the Bala'Gi missions...
I assumed you could fit any laser like in freelancer. Clearly I was mistaken. I started a new gameFinray wrote:

Best is to go with Quick Start, do the escort mission, then get your trading ship (which should be moored in Argon Prime) to go buy energy cells in Ore Belt, and sell them in Argon sectors, Prime, Cloud Base South-East and Home of Light are good places to sell.
Got it yesterday. The new sector apparently gives a mission reward of a Solar power plant station. Worth millions
Could you give a general noob's guide to the first 5-10 hours or so, of what one should be doing in general?Finray wrote:

Well, basically, do that, then once you've amassed enough credits, go for more expensive wares, scout the sectors and see what's needing and find a place where it's being sold cheap. Once you get 500k then make the trading ship into a sector trader by buying the trade command mk3 from Home of Light. From there, the sector trader should get you enough money for a factory, a space fuel distillery in the sector above Argon Prime works really well.
Go for trading ore after power cells, buying in Ore Belt and selling in the surrounding areas. First factory should be space fuel like Finny said, the secotr is Herrons Nebula iirc.
Go find and claim a few of the abandoned ships near your starting sector. The m3's are worth over a million each and jump-start your game a fair bit. Will save you a few hours of cobbling together pennies doing trade runs.
