yeah thats why i said fuck that to this game. I'm sure it's a good game but I don't wana put that much time and effort into a video game which i'll get nothing out of.....
My tip to get your first million. Buy energy cells in the sector west of argon prime, sell in argon prime. Then start buying ore and silicon in orebelt or imperial mines and sell it it Cloudbase SO/Paranid Prime. It´s a grind, but after a few hours you´ll get the hang of it.
The game´s greatest feature is at the same time the game´s biggest handicap. The sheer sandbox gameplay. Thing is, there is no thing you NEED to do next. It´s all what you WANT to do next. I sunk around 180 hours into it and still got times where I just sit in front of my screen clueless, doing nothing.
But after a while I scout new locations, build up more complexes to further my goal of total galaxy domination etc.Well, I started with a wheat farm in Herrons Nebula. In General, the tier 1 food factories are a good start for you empire. I´m just afraid 500k won´t get you all the way there. A factory plus hired TL transport, at least one TS transport with commercial agent expansion, full shielding and starting money for the factory itself (at least 100k) will bring you to around a million.krazed wrote:
alright.... im up to 500k now by just buying for cheap, and selling for a lot elsewhere... what type of factory/station/whatever the fuck should i get first?
sisco should get xfire so i can spam him for help while i play
You can of course buy the factory first (think a wheat farm is around 380k) and start buying energy cells and selling wheat (lol) yourself until you can afford a freighter.
Boron food factories (BoGas and Bofu) run good in argon territory too.
I might consider getting xfire, but I suck at being online in those things.
edit says you can do as finny said too, but put the sector trader into imperial border, levels up in a heartbeat there.
Find a transport ship, start a com link, ask him to carry stuff.krazed wrote:
how do i hire a transport to haul them out to where i want?
oh, well that's pretty simple then lol
You need to approach a TL (the "U" with the three bars inside it on the minimap) up to a minimum of 8km. Then mark him as your target and use the commchannel (default "c") to contact the captain and ask him to follow you. He then tells you how much you have to pay for each jumpgate passed. It gets cheaper the higher your rank is with the specific race.krazed wrote:

After you agreed to the terms, contact the captain again to tell him to dock at the shipyard. Once he did, you can buy and store factories within the hired transport.
Unloading works like above, with the exception that you can contact the captain no matter how far away. You´ll have to be in the same sector to be able to place your facility though.

Managed to capture an M3 from a pirate, could sell it (no gear + 70% hull) for 500k, or I could sink some money into it.. but I don't really need a fighter atm..
I'm torn.
I'm torn.
If it ain't a mamba or nova sell it, I keep capping pirate falcons (M3) and after stripping them they sell for 450-600k depending on hull. Giving me more money to sink into my freighter fleet.Finray wrote:

Bit my toungue and sold it. Bought some Ore from Ore Belt with my TS and got up to 670k, bought a Wheat farm, got it set up, and now I've got my TS running to Ore Belt to the XL Solar Power Plant for Energy Cells at 13c a pop. Once it fills up my station, it goes and sells the Delaxian Wheat at around 50c to whoever wants it.
30 Energy Cells = 20 Delaxian Wheat.
30 x 13 = 390, 20 x 50 = 1000, so that's 610c profit per batch of wheat.
Makes 1 batch a minute, that's 610c/minute, with SETA that's 6k per minute.
Awesomesauce. What factory makes use of the wheat I can now make?
Cahoona Bakerys. 1mill for a medium sized one.
Oh well, better get... SETA'ing?

how does the universe trader bit work?
Always sell the pirate fighters. They all have worse stats than their regular brothers. The Pirate Nova caps at around 100m/s speed and has less storage capacity than the Argon one.Finray wrote:

Sell two and together with the money you would need to sink into its upgrade you get a maxed out Nova fresh outta the box. If you get your hands on a Yaki ship though, do keep it ofc, those can´t be bought anywhere.
As for the wheat farm, bring in a distillery. Brings much money. Depending on the size of the wheat farm (M or L) you may need more farms to sustain a steady flow of wheat for the booze. But don´t sell that shit yourself, your freighters will only get scanned and then they drop their cargo. Put the sell value one credit below average, and the KI will buy the shit the second it hits the store.lol.
Cahoona bakerys bought buy you don´t need no wheat dawg! Just meat.
Be careful with the SETA´ing though, if you do it for a prolonged time your fighting rank will drop real hard real quick.
After you bought the Trading Software Mk3 upgrade you assign your freighter to a sector to start sector trading. He then levels up, speed depending on the quality of the sector chosen. After he reached level 8 you can assign him to trade universe-wide, traveling all the yet by you revealed sectors.krazed wrote:

In order for him to do so, the freighter he flies needs at least one 25MW shield (better is full shielding though), both trading software upgrades, the navigation upgrade and both fighting software upgrades as well as at least a duplex scanner. Buying a jumpdrive is recommended, otherwise he will buy one himself and that will cost you 10% more (it´s just 10k, but in the beginning these do hurt).
Weapons are optional, but I would refrain from equipping him one, cause the weapons the TS can hold are usually mediocre and if he got non, he will always try to escape, most of the time using the jumpdrive. Otherwise he will pick a fight and most of the time end up dead.
Hope that helps

what would be a good system to set him to "sector trade" in?
and where can I find a distillery? i have yet to see one

Anyone else love the fact that you can keep playing X3 once it's crashed?
After playing for about 3 hours my game crashed, so i kept playing and then another 5 minutes later it crashed again so i found the nearest space station and saved. That shit is awesome.

Set him up in Empire´s Edge. Best sector in the galaxy to level up traders.krazed wrote:

You can buy a L distillery in Argon Prime, a KI one can be found in Herron´s Nebula. You can make a few credits there by selling the booze to the local trading station. One of the very few who even buy the fuel, apart from pirate bases.
@Foxx: How do you keep playing? When it crashed for me, I just get a black screen without anything, not even a mouse. Have to taskmanager out
ah i found it... right in front of me lol, i must be blind

Most of the time the standard xp error message comes up on screen and so long as i don't press ok i can keep playing. Other times it produces a memory error message and the same applies.
Hm, I run Vista and it just freezes up black .Rod Foxx wrote:

Had a crash yesterday where it got black but I was able to give commands. After a minute it seized responding though. I´ll try again on the next crash but I won´t get my hopes up.
Might be due to vista.
