Hadn't seen a thread about it yet. Kinda pissed I just ordered a 920 and then the 860 comes out before mine even arrives. Anyone know anything about them yet? From what I understand they're supposed to be faster than the 900 series.

Has a higher stock clock than 920, but you should probably OC the 920 anyway.

I think the i7-900 series are supposed to be more high end, while i7-800s and i5's are the mainstream.

Doesn't look like it has anything on your 1366 i7, don't worry.

The i5's seem more mainstream for sure, but I haven't read anything that has completely sold me on the 800 series being that way. Lower voltage, and faster speeds, even if only by a little seem like a good thing. Although, I did hear that they don't support triple channel memory giving the 900 series some edge.

P55 chipsets. They don't support tri-channel DDR3, just dual channel.

Also there's something special about these CPU's regarding the inbuilt memory controller, or something... Panzer would know more on that, like benefits, etc.

Only reason to get i7 8xx is cheap out badly on motherboard. Which I wouldn't suggest anyway.

i7 860 is on same price range as i7 920 with good board so I see no reason to not grab the 920 instead and get 2GB more ram and better platform overall.

If you're in the US and are near a MicroCenter, there is no reason to go i7-800, since i7-920 is cheaper anyway than on newegg
