I know it´s probably hard to compare two games, that are so different from each other but right now those two are the best selling and most played games on the market, so I just wondered what you guys think.
I had sort of WoW test account for two weeks and tried it out, because my best friend is like totally addicted
to this game and I wanted to know why...

So anyboby else has experience with this ?

My two cents :

BF2 :

the good :
- fast and action gameplay
- the military aspect
- no monthly fees
- graphics ( even on medium it looks awesome )
- the award system ( love my shiny little medals )
- the POSSEBILITY of teamwork ( commander, squadleader, squadmember system )
- sounds
- VOIP system

the bad :
- high requirements for very good graphics ( wanna have ! )
- the rank system ( 8 ranks between 0 and 20000 and 4 ranks between 20000 and 250000 )
- slow update and patch policy
- the ACTUAL nonexistance of teamwork ( mostly )

WoW :

the good :
- patch and update policy ( they have a new patch like every week, can you believe that ? EVERY WEEK !!! )
- teamwork because of the high difference in classes ( you really have to work together to win )
- the weapon,armour and stuff trading system
- the emote function ( you can make your character laugh, dance, tell jokes...pretty funny )

the bad :
- monthly fees
- graphics ( boooring ! )
- the fantasy aspect ( I was never really into that...)
- gameplay ( 80 % running around 20 % of actually DOING something )
- building up characters and stroryline
- people on the forums are mostly a bunch of pricks with wannabe elf-ears...

I love WoW, played a lot -
60 hunter
60 shaman
53 warrior
40 mage
40 warlock
40 paladin
etc

The thing is once you reach the higher levels you really need 3-5 hour gaming sessions to accomplish anything. Nothing wrong with that, I just can't make the time for it. Everything up to MC/BWL is easily accomplished in ( somewhat ) smaller doses. I am currently on break from WoW, and will probably go back and check out the expansion when it comes out, but for now BF2 fits my married, very much employed lifestyle a lot better.

I came fromm WoW, been a long time FPS gamer, and gave it up for BF2. WoW is just one of those games, like most all MMORPGs, you really have to be into it for it to be a good game for you. I was into it for a while, but it really grows on you, in a bad way.

If you start playing, you might enjoy it for a few months, but you really have to love it to endure it for very long. BF2, for me at least, will always have repeat gameplay value.

How the heck do you compare BF2 to an MMORPG, that just doesn't make sense... Apples and oranges so to say. It's like comparing Tetris to Mario, the only thing you can really say is that they are in different genres and some people prefer certain genres over others.

omfg MMORPGS and MMOG suck. for anyone who doesn't know what these are, they're "massively multiplayer online role playing games" and "massively multiplayer online games". eve online, city of heros? guild wars?

no offense to anyone here, no flaming, i just had to get it out of my system after wasting time reading up on Eve Online for months, a game i thought i'd buy, then to read one line out of 3 reviews i've read that said "it takes a player at least 3 months in gaming until he gets to the meatier bits, e.g. fighting in battles". so until then, i'm going to have to waste time monotomously mine for minerals and do that repetitive shit that's so common in MMORPGS.

I´m just want to discuss the fact that those two games are

1. both online computer games
2. the best selling and most played ones right now

good point.
But with regards to the monthly payment, ive never heard a WoW payer complain about paying because they say "its worth it"

If you have a problem running for 30 seconds to action in BF2, then screw WOW. You'll be running for 30 minutes without any action. Wow is a completely different game and can be hardly compared to BF2.

If you have a GUZILLION hours to spend on jack play WoW..

Otherwise its not worth it

Lol i think about bf2 all the time....not really. I live in a small ass college town with nothing to do untill weekends. Lol then i get drunk and do whatever the hell i please. Oh damn I have drill this weekend..fuck i can't believe I don't get to play bf2. Oh well i'll just go play with those bombs on the F-16 over there.

I like them both to a point. I do have BF2 and Special Forces. And i have World Of warcraft.

I switched back to WoW> I have been Playing BF2 like there is tomorrow. Time to take a break from all them noob tubers, stat padders, team killers and so on.

They both fit me equally. But i dont nor do i intend to spend all day in Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and other PVP just to get all that nice looking armor and weapons. If i do...... well you could say my cholesterol will jump above 200 which is not good.

Bottom line for all you people......online gaming will allways have its positives and negatives.....
