Awesome as it seems, it's a bit too detailed.  For example, that cobblestone road would be in reality really painful to walk on - usually cobblestones are smoother and flatter.
Ehhh? It is like that because they wanted to make it look like that. Its damn fantasy world road, not local urban district. You can just as well make them flatter like you can see in the brick wall etc.

For the audiophiles.. I was downstairs looking for something when it dawned on me that we have an ooooldschool stereo system that isn't hooked up to anything. It's just sitting there..

The amp is a Rotel Integrated Stereo Amplifier RA-413, CD Player is a Rotel RCD-865BX and there are two Mordaunt-Short MS40 speakers (they are old speakers as well, just in case there is a newer version of the MS40).

I think I might have a looksie later, and see if they actually turn on Is any of it decent? lol
Nice 25WPC amplifier and quite high-end speakers. They retailed £170 a pair back in the mid 80's, that's about $600 today. The CD player is a bit old (digital tech. has moved forward quite a lot since it was made), but it shouldn't be all that bad. I wouldn't use it in my main system, though.

Nice find none the less. Good luck!

Holly shit! Rotel & Mordaunt Short? I don't know the specific models but that setup should be amazing if it was treated right through the years (everything on nominal)

From what I remember, those speakers did sound rather nice (we also have some MS302's paired up with a Marantz receiver in our current home theatre system) . I asked my dad about it, and he said that it might even been his grandad's setup.. back in the day. I'm pretty sure they have been looked after nicely, although a quick look reveals a lot of the speaker wiring (lol, no RCA cables ) is getting a bit old. Looks easy enough to replace tho. I'll look much more into this after my uni exams (so in 3 weeks).

So what could be some of the components that might need to be replaced, considering it's like 30 years old? Capacitors and whatnot?

Actually, I think I might speak to my uncle about this. He's an electrical engineer.. and a wankerish audiophile who used to sell audio gear as well I think he has some 60-70k worth of audio gear. Hell, his family just moved house.. and he is setting up a room JUST for his gear and to listen to music

Oh, and I just looked up the Canada Post website to see where my DAC is:

Finally got my system together.

Swapped my systems around - my older system is now in the Lanbox, while my newer system is in the Shark. I now have better cooling and have more HDDs, but my GPU upgrade options are a bit limited, as my GTX295 only has 5mm between it and the HDD cage - no 5870 for me.

Big thanks to IrishGrimReaper for the inspiration/information required to get this done.

Um, RCA has never really been used to connect speakers. You usually use 2-pin DIN connectors or simply cable screws.

As for the components, a recap could be in order, and depending on how the speakers are made, perhaps a refoam too. A refoam is replacing the rotted and weak foam that attaches the outer edges of the cone to the basket.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I'm liking the gloss black super dragon, its kind of making me want to put gloss black inside my case, its that, matte black, or gloss white.

It'll be fine, a decent 550W PSU will run any single GPU card. I've got my GTX260 on a Corsair HX520.

Corsair CX400W  is fine for GTX 285. HX520 can run a HD 4870 X2.

Those manufacturer recommandations are for piss poor quality PING PONG PSUs.

I've ran XP with no problems on a 4200RPM laptop drive with ATA33.

Its "fine" if you don't care about performance.

I am yet to notice any performance issues. Seems perfect to me.

If anything, it's better than my old drive. Though I guess that could be Windows 7's doing.

Well it shows up most on HDD intensive stuff which is probably not that common for you. With i7 rig HDD slowness kinda starts to show up pretty bad, after all its the slowest component in the whole PC. When I removed that bottleneck and slapped SSD there, man it flies!

Oh yeah, duh. It uses cable screws.

Its absolutely amazing. Literally like no other set of speakers/headphones I've ever heard before.  If you have surround sound get the album This Binary Universe in (DTS 5.1 Surround Sound) (6 Channel 48K-24).  Its like the perfect 5.1 album, no lyrics, just music made for 5.1 sound.  It sounds

Sweet. I've got surround sound downstairs, but even still.. from the quick look I've had on youtube I think that album would sound pretty cool even on headphones. Just where to get it in Aus..
