i have calc i need help with.  i'm almost 100% sure about #1, #3 i think is right, and i'm not sure where to go with #8 or if i'm doing it correctly. #11 i just don't know how to start.

please please please say any thoughts you have.  i'm kind of lost right now in terms of calc...

by "any thoughts you have" i meant attempts at being helpful

I would have a look over it if it scaled correctly

Thank god i'm doing International Management, just have to do statistics.
Doing calculus in high school was horrible.

What is the goal of each problem? To find the derivative I assume? Also like others have said, it's hard to see the writing.

Hopefully this will help: http://www.webmath.com/diff.html

Any engineering if you mean schooling

And why dont you just integrate it to check

Does accounting require calculus? If not then fuck I'm gonna major in that

Calculus is so freakin easy. Even multi-variable calculus isn't that much harder.

Wait til you get to differential equations or linear algebra. I thought I was hot shit up until those classes

I'm in "differential and integral calculus", and then I have another semester of something more difficult next.

Woo.

The natural log of x/y is the same thing as ln(x) - ln(y), and the derivative of ln(u) is du/u. That should be adequate information to solve 11. (Note that x and y refer to two quantities or polynomials, not x and y specifically.)

Any job you need to maximise or minimise something... So a fucking lot of them.

Yes. As does economics, a lot of sciences, all engineering, probably have to do some in medicine as well, which really only leaves law or subjects which don't count.

That's got nothing to do with differential equations.

I thought accounting was mostly just addition, subtraction, multiplication and division...

1 and 3 are right

8 I am not sure what you did on your 2nd to last to last step?

For the last one if I was just to guess I would write both sides as e raised to each side as powers. (e^y = e^ln(blahlahblah))

edit: lawl nuk is right, you can split it up and derive each term separately. I just took a test where I took like 15 minutes to figure out to add base e to each side, QQ.

Yep.

Sorry Bevo, sounds like you're in the same Calc. as haffey.

Heh, when I first heard of linear algebra I was like, "umm it's algebra? That's so easy." And when I first heard of DE's I was like, "uh, so it's differentiating stuff? I was good at calculus, this will be easy." I was in for a woooooorld of hurt.

Anyways, haffey have you solved it yet? I'm tempted to just hook up my scanner and do the problem myself. But I figured that web app that would differentiate equations could help.

thanks nuk, mtb, and FM.  on the 2nd to last step for #8 on the 2nd page, i was trying to get rid of the denominator...
