After a couple of weeks with 1.5 my thoughts on the prone dev. and hitreg changes are that they ultimately didn't really improve accuracy OR reduce the amount of people proning (sure, less medics prone now...but most of the people who were prone-whores as medics probably just switched to support kit, which now has the benefit of being able to prone to their heart's content, as well as toss endless nades for easy kills).
I've had the same amount of fun as always using vehicles, and it's good that now everyone has access to every BF2 map, but the IO changes (read: prone dev. and hitreg tweaking) were essentially unnecessary and wound up being an annoyance for several days as I got used to it.
And by IO changes being unnecessary, I mean that they were unneccesary at year 4 of the game's existence. "Improved" or not, it's ultimately not different enough to seem significantly better, nor is it enough to warrant huge complaint from those who have to get used to it.
I think as soon as DICE announced they would also try to "fix" the hitreg with this patch, they opened up a whole can of worms with respect to what people suddenly expected them to accomplish with 1.5...people might have been happier overall had they simply left it alone.
