Iphone waste of potential?

Often in the middle of the night, while his wife sleeps beside him, John Sheridan picks up his iPhone from the nightstand and shakes the device like it was a conductor's wand on fire.

Sometimes he goes on like this for more than an hour at a time. There's a point to this midnight madness, though.

By day, Sheridan is a 53-year-old real-estate agent in Florida. But by night, he's an iPhone musician.

In the past few months, he has used his phone to record and upload at least 30 songs to the Web using an iPhone application called ZOOZbeat, which helps anyone -- regardless of musical talent or lack thereof -- create songs by selecting instruments from a list and then waving his or her phone around.

Is it just me or does anyone else think the Iphone turned out to be a huge waste of potential? I remember Apple saying it would change your life, the world, make both easier and have all these amazing features by for some reason why does it seem like every App for the thing is a complete waste of tech?

got more apps.. like movie times, messengers(even xfire is on there), youtube-ish stuff, surf report, various news apps(like AP), wikipedia, yelp, concert listings, pandora type apps-sat radio apps too), weather app, you can check your flights.. white pages, oh and there are alot of games., even photoshop came out with an app recently.

What's your phone bill like to get connected to the Internet, pay the data rates, etc.?

All I require of my phone is to be able to text and call. Sure there are times when I could've used an app like one of those mentioned, but those times are few and far between. I just don't think the huge (though decreasing) cost of all this is worth it. At least not to me.

iPhone has a shit tonne of potental, if it had mobile windows/any modifiyable O/S it would be bomb but Apple sucks cock so...

Orly? I use PhotoForge for that.. it's like photoshop for the iPhone.

As Defiance said, it's an open source smart phone OS. Really quite nice, actually. The only thing I will give the iPhone is that it's hardware is, for the most part, better than that of the Android phones currently on the market. That is set to change, though, in 2010 as Android comes out of its infancy. But if you want a phone for a smart phone and not a handheld video game platform, then Android beats the shit out of iPhone OS 3.1. I almost bought an iPhone when I changed contracts, but after looking at Android - wow. What a difference.
