The same can be said of both markets. Most Windows Mobile apps are junk too. But the rate iPhone apps are created at is around 10x the rate Windows mobile apps are created at due to the easy delivery system and ease of getting apps to market which creates more incentive for developers.

Yes you can. There are some restictions in place for developers releasing apps for the app store, but these are not set in stone and Apple apps do multitasking no problem.

You really don't seem that clued up on the iPhone.

Yes I do and Apple apps can do it. There is also a 3rd party app called backgrounder that does it and a few official 3rd party apps which Apple have allowed to support it.

I'm not saying that the iPhone apps aren't numerous, but you cannot deny that there are A LOT of just plain useless. Then Apple has been so restrictive and inconsistent on what they do allow into the App Store. I've been reading that they have loosened up a BIT in the past few months, but it's still really restrictive and arbitrary.

Most of the apps for both platforms are useless junk. But the iPhone has way, way more apps and way more being developed. There is more for the iPhone than for Windows Mobile - kind of like a reversal of the way it is in the desktop PC world.

tbh Android seems like Linux to me, hardcore nerds think it's awesome and it has lots of potential, but it's just annoying for the average user.

For all the bashing I give Macs and Apple, the iPhone is a fantastic little gadget. I would seriously recommend one.

Huh?  I dont see your point? Or the relevance of the price since most are free with a plan and vary greatly in price if not...

It's nothing like Linux.

However cool and awesome the iPhone may be, it does have it's faults, and those faults are pretty major - I know a couple of friends who's iPhone has just plain broken (either the "This accessory is not supported by the iPhone" error, constant crashing or stalling. This was on non-jailbroken ones). If you google for iPhone problems, there are quite a few, but overall, it's a reliable phone. Just don't get in your head that it's flawless.

My Sony Ericsson C510 does me fine, but I wouldn't say no to an iPhone. Although, if I had to choose between an iPhone and a touch phone with a keyboard, I would go for the latter option because I think it's a better choice in the end. Touch phones are great and all, but practicality is lost and replaced by "coolness". I don't like it.

Touchscreens are more practical than keyboards. They are more versatile.

You can browse really nicely with touchscreens. You can use RDP and VNC clients nicely with touchscreens. You can use maps better with touchscreens. There are so many ways in which touchscreens are incredibly practical.

If you're typing loads, then a keyboard is great, because you WILL end up mashing the wrong keys on the iPhone keyboard an annoying amount of the time - but other than that I've been immensely impressed with how great iPhones are since I got mine and I was one of their biggest critics back when they launched.

Apple have fixed the obvious flaws (except the lack of flash - which I hear from a reliable source is being worked on (though it may be 3GS exclusive)) and now it's great - although my opinion of how great it is as a corporate PDA is probably a bit biased what with working for a company who are probably rather better at utilising the iPhone to its full potential than most.

No.  They are even more fail than the iPhone ever was.  Just no.

My dad has one and the battery literally lasts maybe 4-5 hours.  He had to get this huge battery pack for it so its about 2-3 times thicker and ugly as hell now.  Its really quite shitty still, it doesnt even last him more that 14-15 hours. 
I've told him multiple time I'm going to get him a backpack battery for it on his birthday

I wasn't saying they weren't....

I was saying that Keyboard + Touchscreen is the perfect combination.... Not one or the other.
