There is a line for name in the mp_config but changing it does not work. Only way is to change the steam name.

It's the games/software aspect though. They don't support regular shit. Which is why you have these types of specific setups which do all the tricky emulating stuff to trick games into thinking they're just regular controllers but they're really a mouse setup and shit.
It's a software issue, not a hardware one. The devs could easily include proper keyboard/mouse support for PS3 games if they really wanted, Infact I remember talk about Killzone 2 or something, some game, but they said they didn't want it as it creates an unfair advantage.
I used to be awful with FPS games using a controller. Now I'm quite good at it. Obviously it's not as good as a mouse setup, but I hardly play FPS games on consoles anyway

As for modding my PS3 wtf do I wanna do that for? I don't know shit about modding fuck-all, I wanna keep my pS3 as it is. This fragnstein thing has all the PS controller buttons on it, start/select, d-pad, L1/2, R1/2 and the colour buttons. Which your standard PC mouse DOESN'T have does it? No. This thing is basically optimised and intended for use with a PS3 and you can use it with a PC as well if you want.
