Smoking a blunt is very different to smoking a spliff.

Be warned - it'll take about an eighth of skunk to fill a normal one up....

If I can't afford large amounts here then I doubt moving to cali would change much.

You taste the flavour when you lick the joint while rolling, you can't taste it when smoking.

If the Mexican government caved and made drugs legal in their country would all that violence spill over into the United States?

What violence? Why on earth do you think legalising drugs would increase levels of violence - it's far more likely to do the opposite.

The only reason they haven't made drugs legal is due to pressure from the US. Just like with Canada and legalising weed, they were going to, but didn't want to face the trade sanctions the US threatened them with if they did so (and that's Canada - imagine what sort of sanctions the US would impose on Mexico).

The war on drugs is retarded and cannot be won or even conducted in a vaguely successful manner. In the UK only 1% of the drugs supply is stopped by the police and billions are spent on doing that. What a waste of money.

wrong bert.  oh sure violence will end from pot and just shift to another illegal drug.  you think all those people will go get normal jobs if pot is legal?

A normal job being continuing to cultivate and sell cannabis legally? I'm sure many will...

I think he means the black guys shooting each other on the corners for drug turf.

I smoked a little pot in high school, it was fun. Though I had more fun with dissociative drugs. Also painkillers were cool the few times I did them.

According to Freakonomics, there's a very low profit margin on selling drugs. If big business takes it over the small drug dealers won't be able to compete with mass production.

Who said anything about just making weed legal?

He said drugs, which is what many in the Mexican government have considered legalising.

I'm talking about not having any illegal drugs.

There would still obviously be people who grow and sell it illegally but any amount of money made in tax money for the government is a plus. The Marijuana trade will always flourish, that's just common sense, so there may as well be some amount of revenue generated from it.

This is also true, but the money is in cultivation.

A mid level pot dealer here can make a steady £25 000 a year plus, tax free...

I was talking about cultivation. Can a guy with a few plants in his basement compete with a large farm? No he can't.

Quite right. Which is why it will all shift to much larger scale production which makes it easier to regulate and tax.

This thread, like ee chats, was my idea. I asked jsnipy to post it because I know that if I did the thread would be shat upon.

I wanted one thread for all the MJ discussion and my will was seen to fruit.

Yes. The money saved from cultivating thousands of plants on a large scale will just even out with taxes. Its not that simple anyway, many cultivators just do it on the side for extra money.

I'm not too fussed either way but its pretty idiotic for a government to not salvage what money they can in a recession.

Did the government announce what they would tax marijuana farms if it was ever legalized or are you just assuming the taxes would be enough to even things out?

And buying pot at a higher price from someone who grows it in their basement makes more sense then buying some cheaply from the local store?
