A thought occured to me having read the threads about stats being reset , is resetting peoples stats the right way forward for EA and the community as a whole? I personally dont think that this is a deterrent to the people that do stat pad or glitch etc. If an individual has in the past stat padded to get to a certain rank, lets say First Sergeant, why on earth would anyone think they Wouldn't run the risk again to get back to that rank with all the privilages it affords. If these people are stupid enough to pad etc in the first place then they are most likely to do it again a second time. I mean let's face it, there are thousands of servers out there some clan ranked (and locked) where people can do this to their hearts content without much in the way of comeback from the community. Not to mention the fact that whilst there are many of us out there who have the knowledge and means to report these smacktards, or at least have the willingness, time and resolve to report them, we unfortunately make up a small percentage of the community.
So I ask do you think stat resets work? I mean a lot of the players who have had their stats reset recently are still playing and unless they are caught in the act of padding (or similar) we have only their word to say they will do this no longer.
What's the answer? Well there is the obvious if somewhat Draconian method of Perm ban their Guid, I mean that is after all the ultimate detterent. "Hey i just payed £30 (or whatever) I cheated a little (but only a little honest) and I got banned and can never play this game again, unless i go out and shell out some more money to buy another copy and join with a new ID" That is unlikely and like the US Death penalty would it really server as a deterrent??
The other more liberal option (in my mind at least) is to leave their rank intact but take away all medals ribbons and unlocks and in turn increase the point requirements for the next rank or unlock by say 10,000 or 20,000 per rank.
For me I would personally prefer the first option as this would really make people think twice before cheating, and I for one believe in fairplay and fun and will personally report EVERY cheat or padder I am able to get proof on (hello =GEK= The_turbo_killer) The question is what do you all think??
