im not sure i'd name the axis 'gaming skill'... but yeah, something like that.
perhaps 'life investment' is a better term. i see less skill in eve than in any other mmo- it's all preparation and tactics. x>y and so on. at least in mmo's like WoW the combat is a little more tactile, responsive and action-packed. in eve you seem to win if you come equipped or supported with and by the right ship set-up(s) and comrades.

im taking a break, this goddamn beowulf guy doesnt stop talking and i need a brief respite before his next bout of heroic spiel.
otherwise it makes my brain melt and the quality of my translation ends up suffering... badly.
here you go guys, here's my reference translation (as well as a poetic translation i have in book-form by seamus heaney):
http://www.heorot.dk/beowulf-rede-text.html
ive been staring at the stuff in the left column for about 4 hours, constantly looking up the conjugations and tenses of all the verbs and shit to make sure my prose-translation is carried across properly in a narrative sense. it's so fucking tedious that i think i may die.

this particular excerpt is 65 lines from l.611 onwards->
@Aussie: no. check the link. no no no. that is NOT enjoyable. unintelligible viking babble from 800AD. it's hardly edgar allen poe.
