The only reason I have it is because I'm trying to "expand my horizons". My mate had Jay-Z's album, Dizzee Rascal's, La Roux, David Guetta, and Flo Rida. I got them all. I'm not expecting Flo Rida's to be any good because he's the only one I don't actually like any of his songs.

so do you guys think it's just a meagre trend in newer games that's killing my/your/our enthusiasm, or the big bothersome IRL taking over? seeing as a large core of this bf2s community are all of the same generation, more or less, it's interesting to see the pattern of gameplay. even a year ago there was a considerable difference in activity in the game-discussions and general community gameplay. now this place seems more like a convenient board to come and shoot the breeze and kill some time. im really on a mega nostalgia binge. i miss the (rose-tinted) feeling of coming home from school and really wanting to chill and hop on vent/ts with my fps-team, or to log on to warcraft and relax for a few hours. weep.
i ponder this from time to time, i'm back off WoW again, it's so retarded now. but i got to thinking the other day about how much i used to enjoy every waking moment playing BF2. but as you said, it's great to look back on it all, even botting all the way thru Silkroad Online, that was soooo much fun
yeah! i go through waves of longing and disgust with WoW, normally balanced on the Janus of my subscription activity... when i cancel my subscription, a month later i'll read about a patch-change or some new content, and i'll be instantly tempted by feelings of nostalgia to come back, to "just play casually" and remain blissfully ignorant and blithe to the systematic destruction of the 'hardcore' and 'competitive' elements of the game. then i resubscribe, log-in, and my feeling of nostalgia instantly gives way to disgust and boredom. haha. then i cancel again... and it loops. i think in a wider sense im just longing for a game that i can look forward to playing, and actually enjoy playing, without an inner-monologue of criticism and skepticism, without the constant feeling of whiney dissatisfaction and disappointment. i dont know whether that's caused by crap games nowadays, or an unreasonable increase in expectation from me, as the consumer/gamer... be it caused by 'growing up' or just general wariness of the gaming 'scene'... after all, ive been around and ive played my fair share. perhaps im just a grumpy veteran of an industry that seems to be increasingly marginalizing the old, hardcore element in favour of pandering to casual, ever-younger console kiddies.

maybe i really just need to find a new hobby. hahaha. it sucks that all of the things i used to really enjoy (e.g. gaming, skating, music) suddenly became unmaintainable pursuits when i moved to university. now my life revolves around the disgustingly-cliche 'student lifestyle' of partying, girls and half-assed study. i constantly feel the inner need to change that, it's so unfulfilling.

Going on an 8-hour Kraftwerk binge today. Feels like forever since I've listened to them

Autobahn, Radio-Activity, Trans-Europe Express, The Man-Machine, Computer World, Electric Cafe (*shudders* but I gotta do it anyway), The Mix, Tour De France Soundtracks, and Minimum-Maximum to finish it all off (Oh and I'm skipping Expo 2000 as well as some other stuff that I don't think would fit, mainly remixes).

smarter isnt the right word at all... there's no intellect involved in listening to something that isnt spoonfed to you by radio 1 or KISS.

you cant buy creative initiative, i guess, and dumbies like you will always be happy being consumers- that is, receivers of a mass-produced fucking commodity, rather than fans of a form of art. there's a huge difference and subscribers to mass modern-culture like yourself are the reason we're so culturally fucking bankrupt nowadays here in the 21st Century in every form and way. you are the moron that feeds an industry more concerned with buying-trends and a complete lack of artistic integrity than in actually being progressivist or inventive. you are the stain on society that thinks 'current affairs' discussion of the arts constitutes a discourse on the twins from X-Factor. you are the painfully ignorant oik that i will always derive great pleasure from in order to tell you just how shit your tastes are.

see... you dont really have a defense or reasoning for your tastes. you passively accept what's put under your nose. maybe i champion arts in their multitude of forms on a higher pedestal than you do in our different individual world-views, but to me that's pretty unforgivable. as i see it, if you like a certain form of music, i.e. rap, then you'll be interested and inclined enough to actually listen to rap made as an expressive art-form, rather than to be quietly fine with just sucking up the bubble-wrapped stuff that is sold to you by media sharks and the marketing man.

where do you get that impression from? im a middle-class white guy recommending black, urban music to you. i dont think trying to come across as "chic" (could you possibly use a term any more egregious?) is even a result worth contemplating. as for "not getting it"... that's a myth that dumbies subscribe to. there is no such thing as a form of music or art that someone cannot 'get', and im not stupid enough to try and fall into the group of elitist assholes that subscribe to that mentality. my argument is a simple and sincere one: music as commodity versus music as art. mainstream 'pop' industry, the capitalist bourgeoisie seizing upon of ART as a disgusting form of capital versus ART as something of true cultural value. it has nothing to do with being 'underground' or 'cool' or 'ahead of the curve' or 'hip' or 'with it'. the fact that genuine art finds distribution and expression in the underground scene is merely an incidental economic practicality, considering the modern majority of dicks like you fuel the hideously-termed 'music industry'. art and industry should never be conflated, that's my stance-- this is not about individual credibility.

thats all fine, i just dont see why you always try to debate this like people are going to change their mind or taste.

i'm not sucking up what the "marketing man" tells me to, I just like what I like, there have been plenty of things that alot of people go on about and say is great that i totally hate. I don't just listen to any random crap in the top 40 simply because its there. i hate x-factor and the tabloids etc im not sure why you assume i follow that.

Could someone explain to me what a pre pitched CD is please?
Uzique
dasein.
+2,865|6734
pre pitching a CD is something a lazy DJ does

part of DJ'ing and mixing / beat-matching is matching up the pitch of individual tracks. a pre-pitched CD is a CD that has been altered by software, or perhaps by the DJ him/herself in their spare-time, so that each of the tracks are already matched to the same speed/pitch. all the DJ has to do then to mix live is beat-match the 4/4 drumbeat or whatever. relatively simple. it's seen as an unforgivable act in respected DJ circles (especially drum'n'bass, where the focus of live performance is very much on the turntables and MC), and as a matter of fact a big name on hospital records recently got his ass thrown off the label for pre-pitching and playing mix-CD's live.

@dauntless: because i think you are a dick, therefore i use the term. im not trying to change anyone's mind. im explaining my objection to shitty music-as-a-product type stuff. in trying to recommend you new music, im not exulting in my own awesomeness, as you instantly accuse me of doing, im just trying to nurture a kindling interest in 'x' genre into a genuine appreciation of the genre as art, rather than a consumerist participation in mass-marketed trash. my explanation of my stance wasn't borne out of me feeling like i need to 'defend' or 'justify' anything, it was trying to reason against your own ignorant, uninformed view that i somehow have the taste(s) that i have to be a "cool kid". i can guarantee you that kool keith carries no credo or kudos, especially in my circles of all people. you should know with me that art is not superficiality, it's not an aesthetic pleasure. i'd more happily be accused of being pretentious and given to contrived profundity when it comes to music than to be accused of the opposite.

@babyjesus: oh yeah, what a jibe. thanks. especially coming from such an ugly cnut. you got me bro.
