They've been trialling this alot with rfid tags implemented with phones/pda's etc for quite a while recently, it will happen.

It's a good concept, but I don't think a stand alone version will last very long; a year, maybe two at most once the idea really gets going. Ultimately, like most portable communications devices, it will end up as just another feature on most cell phones in the next few years.

And you'd think if you want to add someone as friends on facebook you remember their name...

They would have to make it a generic thing. If you can only swap with other people who have this product it will fail... Why would I buy one when there is no one to share it with. Sure I could get my friends to buy one... but they aren't the ones I would need if for. So I wont buy one, and then the next person has one less person they can use it with so they wont buy one, ect...

But I think the idea will eventually be picked up in some form.
