I played the game with 3 mages, while using alistair as a tank
Having tried 3 classes and all the origins I'm at a loss.
Still can't seem to get into the game. I get to Lothering and get pissed. I think it's the class ability choices.

Nah. Not dying. The game isn't nearly half as hard as BG2 for combat on the higher difficulties.

you rescue the queen and you're caught red handed by the important-looking woman with the huge sword and a minion of guards right behind her? If so, I'm pretty sure you're meant to lose that one, as you get sent to prison right after you 'die' or if you choose to surrender peacefully. She also regenerated health at a really fast pace, iirc. Mind you I played on nightmare so our experiences might not be the same

i looked it up and apparently it is possible but extremely difficult (the hardest battle in the game) and even if you win you still go to jail so theres no point in fighting.
I see. Gj on getting close to it then, I might give it a go my 2nd time through. Playing the game again makes you realize just how much shit you've missed out on. I don't think I've died once yet this time through so I might stand a chance.

Seriously, go back where you came from, past the jail cell and then down a corridor on your right into a circular (i think) room, the main Woman, forgot her name, and maybe a few guards will follow, kick the living shit through them, pretty easy really; try using AOE or those cone shaped spells as they run through the door. Then once that bitch is dead (really not hard 4v1) stick your dick in her mouth and then just take control of your main guy or another warrior/rouge party member, tell the others to hold position and then run back to the room with the 17 thousand guards, stick to the wall on your right as you walk in until you catch the attention of ~5 guards, run back to the room and rape them. Repeat this til they are all dead. And no, you don't go to jail?

If you choose to wait for rescue and you choose Dog and Oghren to come and break you out:

I just set everyone on 100% attacking her while healing at random intervals, it wasnt too difficult, especially compared to some of the later battles. You get an epic finishing move on her once you win
