Aluminium is pretty light. It's a lot stronger too, so they can make it thinner. It may be a bit heavier I guess, but doesn't feel heavy in an excessive way.

I think it's an aluminium/magnesium alloy and it is thinner than the plastic and the MacBook Pros weigh less than the MacBooks.

U can stand on the magnesium strenghtened Lenovos. Do you plan on shooting them with shotgun maybe? My brother has 10y old IBM thinkpad and its shell is still in top notch condition. If you rather want bling bling aluminium that gets scratched and paint falls off in a year, well, thats your call. I would say that only the new glass pads are anything really special. I've played with my friend's Macbook (previous gen) enough ... I wasn't impressed. I've used both and many touchpads. My Acer EEE PC 900 has a nicer touchpad than the one on a Macbook. Again, personal preference. I don't like em. You do. What's changed? Nothing.mcminty wrote:

the macbook pro is a fine piece of work, and after a year of having one, those things are top quality. now macbook pro's are more affordable. the only thing i dont like is having a built in battery... In this case, I can't see a reason to justify the extra money (imo). His not doing video / photo / music editing and he doesn't need it as a fashion accessory either.

The thing with pretty notebooks is that you want them so stay pretty and not get scratched etc. The piano black shiny coat from my EEE looked horrible after some time. Where as hard plastic&magnesium combo Lenovo for example uses is almost scratch proof and you can just throw the lappy to ur bag and forget about it, it will be just fine.Little BaBy JESUS wrote:
