Since I have SSD, I don't even need to quote any test, but do it myself:

User would not be seeing major slowdown, but it is quite significant drop.
That's hardly anything! In one of the tests it performs better.

And are you running TRIM? Did you make sure to do a complete wipe of the drive beforehand if not?

Now do a similar test with mechanical drives and see what happens.

That's certainly not what I would call a significant drop.

Ran a manual TRIM through the SSD toolbox after removing the files and back to 50%

I don't have TRIM, so if it was like you said, I shouldn't be seeing a drop at all.

Note that this is a INTEL X25-M G2, so the effect is bareable.

26% faster 4k write when 50% full.

20% faster 512k write when 50% full.

Virtually identical read speeds all round though. Which is the important bit. The effective difference you'll see with those write speeds is nothing.

I suspect that the write speed hit you are seeing is something to do with the funny design of the Intel drives which makes them soooo much faster on write speeds than other drives.

I won't really see any better performance from my SSD setup than you - but my write speeds, overall, trounce yours.

the large write yes, but see the how it turns out with the 4k write?
