besides, it's not my opinion that squatting and deadlifting are imporant exercises
squatting and deadlifting ARE imporant exercises. thats a fact
every exercise is important. i dont think squats do you much good if you are just exercising to stay in shape and have some muscle tone. i mean are you playing any sports or doing body building comps?HaiBai wrote:

The fuck? Your idea of working out is warped if you think certain exercises are for sports or comps only.

Squatted 275 at 4x6.

well, i just got back from the doctor and she told me not to lift for another week. And when i start I have to start with very little way and slowly work my way up again.
This sucks.
This sucks.
That sucks man.
I've had the reverse situation. Had my first workout today in 12 days. Deloaded from where I was at on the my last workout; squats and DL were meant to be 90kg in plates, reduced it to 80kg and military press was reduced to 25kg in plates. All went well, feels great to be back

you say that every month
I'm a busy man.
So I'm curious. Is there much of a difference between a standard bar and olympic bar, other than weight and the rotating sleeves? Are the diameters different too?
iirc, Olympic is 2 inch diameter, standard is like 1 inch.
Ok, that helps. Finding DL is starting to hurt my hands a bit, feels like the bar is a little narrow in diameter.
Oh wait, I was talking about the Diameter at the ends, the inside of the plates.
I think Olympic is a bit wider on the grips as well, but not as much as 2 inch.

I guess I'll just wait till I have ample money before making the switch. Olympic BB plus 80kg in plates is gonna be expensive.
edit: Though by the time I afford one I'll most likely need 100+ kg in plates. $3 kg plus a $120 7' BB.

Olympic BB is well worth it though.
Get a decent quality one as well, there are two at my gym, one is a good quality York one, the other is a piece of shit that I find hard to grip doing dead lifts because it is so slippery.

Yeah I will, eventually.
Not really. The only difference between a standard and an olympic that any of us should take into account is the weight of the bar.PrivateVendetta wrote:

It's the same as a standard bar, and the weights for an olympic bb tend to be slightly more expensive.
The only real benefit is "gripped" discs, which I haven't found in standard size. That's if you want to do shrugs and the sort, and they're easier for moving around.
