Since it's a 3rd Generation, it has the newer patched bootrom like the one I have. If you plan on jailbreaking it, you can only have it "tethered", so in other words, when you completely turn off the device, you have to hook it up to your computer and run "blackra1n" to jailbreak it again before you can use it. It only takes 30 seconds or so, so it's not a big deal.

Also, you can get virtually any App from the App Store for free.

Be aware though, it doesn't feature the newer hardware that the 3rd Generation iPod Touches are supposed to have; only the 32GB and 64GB versions feature the same hardware as the iPhone 3GS (256mb RAM vs. 128mb, and a faster processor). It's not a big deal though.
I'll help you through the jailbreak process, and set you up on how to get Apps, and other useful tweaks; just PM me when you're ready.
