"Upgrading" a BF2 CD copy to Steam?

A couple years ago, I bought BF2 on CD, and have played it since, but now that they've put it on Steam, I'd like to get it available there, so it updates easier and so when I reformat I can just copy out my SteamApps folder and be done at that (Instead of having to reinstall BF2 from all the CD's)

I've tried to "Activate a product on steam" but my serial didn't work.

Can it be done?

lol, i made an ISO of my "full collection" disk and install off that..

Also with the no cd in 1.5, i dont need the CD at all.

BF2 would have to be the most painful installs ever. The patches and expansion pack installs.. pb.. takes fkn forever.

PS: You cant transfer the game to steam.. no.

I only have the original so it's 3CD's. Plus the expansions and all that BS.

But yeah, tis lame that you can't just transfer the copy to Steam.

I have a legitimate license key for BF2, but my #1 CD died.
I borrowed a friends and installed fine, but couldn't take an ISO - two separate rippers said 'scratched CD'

Anyone know where I can download a clean, virus free ISO?
SF would be handy also, I downloaded that through EA (before Steam) but had to reformat, I must have a license key somewhere.
I think my redownload time limit has expired, should probably check, SF was a total pig to get set up with the various players.
