The interface seems strange.

I like vent, it's simple. Like me

That's one thing that I have always liked about Ventrilo - the simplicity. But it would be nice to have a good chat client like TS, too, for people that don't have microphones.

I like Teamspeak because it's cross-platform, and you can host free servers. Sure, you can host servers in Vent...but they are Jewish, so it can only hold 8 people.

Yeah vent is shit and crap and bad and horrible.

I've been excited about this release for years now.. i noticed it was going into beta about a month ago, and will host it as soon as i can. I use teamspeak a lot with my mates, and some of the features of TS3 look awesome.

Shit like Custom UI, True 3D sound... File transfer..... This shit owns everything available at the moment.

I can tell you now. This will replace vent. Not saying immediately. But definitely inevitably.

...

How is it not awesome, if you're in a 6 man squad... playin a game, and they SOUND like they are exactly where they are in the game....

Mate that is pure bliss.....

I'd rather hear them clearly and precisely than to have it recreate their position in the game. Tbh.

But cool technology anyway.

The community-driven aspect will be pretty cool. Can't wait to see where that goes.

Hopefully when they re-wrote it from the ground up, they took security into mind. Teamspeak 2 is very unsecure and can be hacked or fucked with pretty easily. And you have to go to pretty annoying lengths to make it secure.

calling BS on that.  or it'll only work in one game.

anyway that would be nice.  i thought by 3D they meant that james would always sound like he is to the left of me and john would sound like he's to the right of me so that i always knew who was talking without having to know voices.

Google Mumble.  It will work for any game that's supported.  I believe the game devs have to add support for it, not the TS3 guys.

I think it would come into play if dev's used the TS3 technology as their VOIP. I guess similar to what they said America's Army was doing.

well mumble seems really nice with the positional audio.  has anyone ever used it?  if so, how was it?

Used it while playing ProjectReality. Very useful for that game, makes Inter-squad-communications possible. I remember attacking a control point with 2 other squads, while organizing it perfectly with mumble. Was awesome.

Apart from using it for games it's rather useless I guess, for pure communications there are better programs.

edit for a question: I could probably find that out easily by myself, but I know you're faster. Is it possible to use servers that I've so far connected to while having TS2 installed with TS3? In other words, is the client downwards compatible?
